I'm twenty weeks and didn't start to gain any weight until this week. As long as your doctor isn't concerned I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I lost 5 lbs in my first trimester. As of 16 weeks I was back up 4 lbs to 1 lb under my pre-pregnancy weight. So officially, I haven't gained any weight yet. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, since at least I am gaining now and not losing. When I was having trouble getting calories I started adding a small bowl of ice cream in after dinner every night. I figured it was something I knew I like to eat, and it has calcium for little baby's bones and teeth too :-)

I'm in the middle of my 17th week and I havent gained much either, My doctor doesnt think its anything to be worried about. She told me add an extra 200 calories a day to my pre-pregnancy diet and that everything should be fine. Some people gain most of their weird in the 3rd tri

I wouldn't worry about it. If the baby is growing normally then it's simply using up your body fat to "grow" I didn't grow much until 3rd trimester. Only gained 10 lbs. But I gained 20 in the last stretch (thats when it mostly happens)

I am still at my pre-pregnancy weight and 18 weeks pregnant. I still struggle with throwing up a lot of my food/liquids. So far my doctor doesnt seem too worried.

Definitely talk to your doctor if you're concerned. At 17 weeks, not gaining anything doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, though; different bodies react different to pregnancy.

With DD, I was still about 15 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight at 17 weeks due to morning sickness. With #2, I'm 16 weeks right now, and still down about 5 pounds. I'm also short/petite, but not so concerned about gaining weight right now. As long as you're eating well/eating enough and not overexercising, your body will gain what it needs to. :) Be sure to keep up on your prenatals, though! It's very important to get the nutrition you need, even if you're not gaining weight yet.

Thanks for all the advice. I haven't lost any weight from my trimester, and small/petite to begin with.

Depending on your starting weight, I would say to talk to your Dr and be happy about it. I was doing great and had only gained 11 lbs by 36 weeks and then poof...the weight just started piling on with no changes to my eating. Now I think I sit at 26 total gained.

I've talked to a doctor about this, and depending on the weight you are before hand, it may not be anything to worry about. Just ask you doctor when you see him/her next.

At my first ultrasound at week 14 I was about 10 pounds down. I wasn't that sick in my 1st tri, but my appetite took a major hit. Since I wasn't *ahem* skinny prior to conception, no one was worried. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still not caught back up to my pre-pregnancy weight. Remember, all those books and websites give figures for the "average" which means there are lots of other ways for things to go. If you're feeling healthy and eating a good diet, I wouldn't worry! :)

17 weeks is still early. were you sick in your first trimester? i lost weight in my first trimester from being sick, and started feeling better by week 14. i probably only put on 3 pounds by 17 weeks... perhaps even less because i had to gain back the weight i lost in the first trimester.

don't worry though... i gained the vast majority of my weight in my third trimester and i ended up gaining 45 pounds with charlie!

Anyone having a probelm with NOT gaining weight? I'm 17 weeks and have only gained 3 pounds. Reading books it says I should be gaining 1 pound a week, and I'm definately not anywhere close to that? I'm eating every couple of hours along with my main meals. Thoughts?
