I bought brewers yeast from a specialty brewing store for making beer (happens to be one very close to my house, so it's not like i sought it out for this). When I walked in with my husband there was a group of about five 30-40 year old men hanging out and talking about brewing, as if they hang out in the store a lot. I asked the owner (who was talking with the guys) about where to find brewers yeast (obviously pregnant) and they all looked at me confused and proceeded to ask a bunch of questions about what type of beer i'd be brewing and how many gallons i was making, etc, etc. I dodged all their questions because i didn't want to talk to these men i don't know about lactating and then one proceeded to accuse us of making "something illegal"... i have no idea what he meant, maybe he was thinking like pot brownies but with brewers yeast??? Finally i just asked them to show me where it was so i can pick it out myself and once they showed me they STILL kept asking about what kind of beer so they could help me pick the "right" yeast. I just grabbed one and checked out as fast as i could.. so awkward!

I made these, and they are yummy. I added extra chocolate chips though :)
And you can get Brewers yeast at Whole Foods.

I made some for my SIL that she liked. Let me see if I can find the recipe. I bought the brewer's yeast on Amazon, but I'm sure you could get it a natural foods store.
