I go out to my car. Where I work is a completely open space except for the bathroom and boiler room. There is literally no place for me to pump. It sucks, but whatever. I'm sure I'll feel differently when it's raining or super hot, but I'm okay with it for now.

@T-Mom: @MsInformation: I am in Toronto. Even in the states I wouldn't be covered though as it would be past one year from birth and my company only has three employees.

I think @oliviaoblivia: is in Toronto right? I'm surprised Canada doesn't have some sort of law for this!

The lactation room at my office was pretty awesome. There was a lock ok the door that just required a key code and then inside was 4 stations with curtains, a sink and a fridge. Each station had a table, office chair and easy to access power port.

@oliviaoblivia: yes, @MsInformation: is totally right. By law your employer has to provide a place for you to pump that is private. You should definitely follow up as to what they can offer you!

@MsInformation: That's pretty awesome. Our lactation room is a small office with two desks and two chairs and a fridge. Right now I'm the only person who uses it and even though it's totally no frills, I like going there for some away time.

@oliviaoblivia Ack! The Affordable Care Act made it mandatory for employers to provide a place, "other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from coworkers and the public, which may be used by an employee to express breast milk."

Unless your company is exempt for some reason, you are entitled to a space other than your exposed cube!

@oliviaoblivia: what? Really?? I am in an open concept office - there are no doors or offices.... But we have 3 private restrooms that have doors, so I am in one of those - I would NOT want to be in the open - especially with all the guys around me, and sometimes I am semi-naked depending on what I wear - ha!

My gosh, that's awesome! I'm a teacher and the accommodations for breast feeding mamas are pretty much nonexistant. My friend pumped in her classroom behind a tri-fold poster board, without the kids there obviously. I'm not looking forward to that when the time comes!

That's an awesome set up! If I'm breastfeeding when I go back to work next year I will have to pump at my desk in the middle of our open concept office with a nursing cover. :/

That is awesome! My corporate office mother's room has a medela symphony, massage chair, fridge/freezer, and sink. It can only be used by one mom at a time. However, I had to sit at a client site for several months, and their lactation room was behind a curtain in the restroom and there was nothing else offered.

When I was pregnant, I assumed that I'd have to pump in the ladies room or an empty conference room when I went back to work. Then I learned from a coworker that the company provides a lactation room! I was so surprised because we don't even get free coffee at the office.

I go back to work next week (sob) and visited the office yesterday to pick up the room key from my colleague. The room has two small booths with curtains, and each booth has a Medela Lactina pump, chair and footstool. There's also a sink and a mini fridge, so everyone can wash their pump parts and keep milk somewhere other than the communal fridge in the break room. And there's even a bulletin board where moms put up photos of their LOs.

Seeing the set-up made me feel incrementally better about returning to work. For those of you who pump at the office, do your companies provide dedicated space to do it? What do your rooms look like?
