Yeah I'll just wait and see. I feel like her bloating and butt rashes are getting worse. I may do what you ladies suggest and switch the sensitive and see what happens. My mom told me today I had to.be on soy formula and a baby because of similar issues. So we will see :)

@Petitduck: A scoop of corn starch in the diaper every time seemed to finally do the trick! Just with a cheap diaper cream. I spent so much $$ on fancy ointments that never worked :bummed:

@cyoung: my kid is a week old and poops 8 times a day or more and has a raw red bum that is bleeding and is EBF just for comparison and is quite gassy also. I feel like it’s just their digestive systems trying to get used to life on the outside.

@annem1990: I just wanted to piggyback and ask if there is anything you used on your baby’s bum that healed the rash and bleeding magically?

Mine was combo fed and although I don't have exact numbers, I would bet he pooped 5 times a day at least as a newborn  Check with your Doctor but that seems like a normal amount! He also had a horrid diaper rash (bleeding for weeks) from probably 2-6weeks. We just could not get it under control. Never thought about a dairy allergy, but it all solved itself and I guess if he had a sensitivity at the time and we didn't know it, he certainly doesn't now as a toddler!

My son was kind of similar and when I asked the pediatrician, she said that kids under two actually can’t be lactose intolerant. If they’re fussy with milk proteins, they usually learn to tolerate it by toddlerhood. For my dude, we also switched to a sensitive formula and it really helped! Good luck!

I agree with @pinkb: that it sounds like a normal formula fed baby however, we did switch to sensitive formula due to trapped gas and reflux (it has very low lactose) and she does much better!

This sounds like a normal formula fed 2 week old to me. I am lactose intolerant so I understand what you are talking about. One of my kids we thought was lactose intolerant when they were an infant and we tried soy and it wasn't the issue. We ended up on sensitive formula instead. I think the only real way to tell is to switch to soy to see if the things you listed improve.

So my husband has major lactose intolerance. I also did as well when I was a baby and had to be on soy milk. My daughter also is sensitive to milk and get rashes and poops a ton all day if she drinks milk. I'm worried my almost 2 weeks old also is sensitive to dairy or milk. She poops a ton for a formula fed baby. Like easily 5 times a day. Sometimes its looks a tad watery. She also gets randomly really gassy and has to burp a ton. She acts like she has trapped gas. Her bottom will get so red from pooping a ton. Does this sound like a milk/dairy sensitivity or intolerance to you ladies?
