I got one after my epi, and it didn't bother me at all, I ended up in c-section so it was left in until the next morning (as was my epi.) it didn't bother me because it was better than calling in the nurse every 30 minutes to help me pee (I had an IV so I had to have help.) It was really the last of my concerns!

I had one post epi that was easy and I couldn't feel it and they toolkit out right away. Later I has to have another after not being able to pee even though my bladder was full. It was extremely painful since the epi was long gone and I cried through the whole thing. I've had no permanent leakage but definitely had less control for a day or two after.

I had one. It's because you can't get up to pee once you have the epidural. It wasn't too bad.

I had one when I got my epi, and they took it out for pushing. I had a similar situation to @MamaMoose, where I had a great epi experience and the catheter wasn't uncomfortable at all and didn't cause any issues after.

I'm kind of a rare case, but I got the catheter after delivery & stitches. I got the epi fully dilated, so I think they didn't bother because it wouldn't be long. & I'd peed in a cup downstairs about 40 min prior, in triage. Epi was still wearing off but they only put it in to empty my bladder and then took it out, I didn't feel anything.

I also got it after they put in my epi, and I don't remember when they took it out but it was out by the time the baby came. They make you try to get up and pee pretty quickly.... I remember because the peeing part is PAINFUL..... especially after tearing.

I had an epi. They gave me the option of using the bedpan or inserting a catheter, draining my bladder, and the removing it right away. I couldn't figure out how to make myself use the bedpan (peeing laying down while in labor with an audience is tricky even without being numbish!) so we did the catheter. I didn't even feel it and it was removed right after. Easy as pie. I have no leakage problems now either.

I got my Epi only about 45 minutes before I started pushing. My doc had every intention of putting a catheter in but I think she ran out of time. I definitely did have bladder control issues for a few days after! I would have to run to the bathroom when I felt the urge and still I would leak. Thank goodness i was wearing the mega pads!

I had one right before my c-section. I felt it, but it didn't hurt at all. I def. appreciated it that day and the next because there was no way that I was about to walk anywhere! I had it in for 24 hours.. and was actually kind of sad when they took it out bc that meant that I had to get up..

I had no issues with it, and have not had any issues since.

I had a vag birth, had an epi too. They used a folley catheter to help move along dilation. After they placed my epidural, they placed the catheter to empty my bladder. I didn't feel it at all, at any point, and have no idea when they removed it.

I had one after I got the epi. They didn't remove it for two days after my section since they left the epi in for that long. It didn't hurt going in or out. It was great once I got it bc I had to call the nurse every time I had to pee. With all the iv fluids, I was calling her every 20 min. I haven't had any issues from it.

I had a catheter for my two c-sections. However, my issues with leaking now are not something that was caused by the catheter. When I was preggo, I peed myself more than once. I think I just have a weak bladder that was made worse by carrying two kids.
I still have trouble with my bladder. :(

I had the exact same experience as @highwire as soon as they put me on the mag drip they inserted the catheter. Once I was ready to push it was removed. Once they determined I would be having a c-section it was put back in. It remained in until I was off the magnesium the next day.

Oh and no incontinence or bladder issues.

I was so scared of the catheter! (I was fine with the epidural.) In reality the catheter was nothing. After delivery the nurse told me I needed to pee for my uterus to go back in place and asked if she could bring me a bed pan. There's no way I could've done that, so she said she was going to use the catheter and I didn't even feel it. No issues after either.

I got one when after they placed my epi. Once you have an epi you can't get out of bed so you need a catheter to pee. It didn't hurt at all when they placed it. And they actually removed it when I started pushing. I had a really perfect epi that wore off quickly so I was able to get up and walk to the bathroom to pee very shortly after delivery. For the first couple days I would definitely pee as soon as I sat on the toilet and had little control... But I was fine after a couple days.

I had a catheter put in AFTER delivery. I honestly have no idea why they did it - they didn't ask or tell me. I didn't feel it though but it gave me terrible incontinence once it was taken out. like when I stood up I literally peed all over myself because I couldn't control anything due to that being in me for 24 hours. it was sooo embarrassing I started crying and kept apologizing to the nurses!

I had one after my epidural, and I have to say, it was awesome! The epitome of laziness...appreciating a catheter because you don't have to get up to go to the bathroom! My husband thought I was crazy because I was so fascinated! It wasn't painful at all!
