My LO started with his a few weeks ago - he's 19 months. He's repeating a lot of what we say now, adding a new word to his vocabulary every few days (so words that he's saying consistently on his own), pointing to pictures of objects in books and remembering what certain ones are.

Right now.

Before Christmas (14m on Dec 20th) I would have not said with confidence she says "Momma" or "Dadda". She definitely made the sounds, but I didn't think associated it.

Now? Words come out of her like "tractor", "shadow", "bubbles", "up please", "hockey", "all done", sings lines from songs, like wtf....knows how and when to use the words, it's crazy. I won't even go there on her repeating everything! Just have to say it once and she's put together the association and is all over it. It is near scary how fast this has all come about! She will be 16m on Feb 20th.

We going through a language explosion right now, and it is completely blowing my mind because DD just turned one. She says my first name (which is what she calls me), thank you, bath, bottle, milk, more, Cheerios, my treasure (this is what she calls the remote control), this is yours, here, and "kill ba." I have zero clue what "kill ba" means, but she says is constantly.

My LO started around 15 months, she's always been a talker, but in the last month she has exploded. She knows people's names, she's even joking by calling people the wrong name and then laughs and corrects herself, she's stringing 2-3 words together to make semi-sentences, it's wonderful. She still has her own language, but definetely starting to use more English.

Around now as well, at 17 months! Shes at about 50 words and can copy words we say (I don't count them unless she says them consistently though), and she is doing a lot more babbling like telling a story and can remember songs I teach her.

When did you notice your little ones language explosion? I think my dd is going through hers now at 17 months. She will repeat any word I say and she remembers them amazing well. Just this week she started saying, blueberry, jacket, purple, yellow, mine, snack, show, and I'm sure a couple I can't remember.

She'll stand around with me telling me stories ( a bunch of babbling) for minutes at a time and then sometimes she just starts laughing like she's remembering something funny!
