Yes, I always have to wear nursing pads because I tend to leak a lot. I tried reusable pads but they soak through so quickly, even when I change them often.

Thanks everyone! I have motherlove nipple cream but I've heard more about EMAB, so I think I'm going to get that and see if it helps more. I'm going to look into the reusable ones although I really don't leak much except sometimes at night. I'm really just trying to get my nips to heal asap and I hate having my boobs hanging out all the time. It's uncomfortable and cold! Haha

I would look into a lanolin-free nipple cream (a recent study actually showed a increased risk of infection if using lanolin over other nipple creams). But yes, you can use virtually any nipple cream with disposable nursing pads. Though I love the organic cloth ones sold at BRU!!!!

I used nipple cream and nursing pads together, but I hated the disposable pads. They didn't fit right and felt itchy. I switched to washable ones and was much happier...you're already doing so much laundry, it's not a hassle to just toss them in and they take up practically no space. I did go through several sets a day in the early weeks, though!

I've used them both and never had a problem either. Just make sure to "air out" your nipples and change your pads frequently.

You absolutely can. I much preferred washable nursing pads though - the disposable ones are really crinkly.

Lanolin made my nipples crack. EMAB nipple butter worked wonders for me. I also used non disposable nursing pads that I washed whenever they got wet.

You can! Maybe just change them often to avoid thrush? :)

Yep! You can! I slathered them with lanolin or nipple butter, stuck a disposable pad inside my nursing tank/bra, and at least got a bit of relief. The pads will suck up a bit of the lanolin, but at least you're providing a protective barrier and not staining your clothes!

I suggest getting the gel pads instead. I think you can use them instead of lanolin. They have been a lifesaver for me this week.

I'm not sure because I never needed nursing pads but the combo of lanolin and nursing pads can be a recipe for thrush...

OK this might be a dumb question, but can you use lanolin with disposable breast pads? Like, apply it and put a breast pad over your breast so it doesn't get on your clothes? Does it still work the same? My nipples are sore and I'm using it after every session buy I hate how it stains my nursing tanks.
