I've been to Vegas several times, never with kids, but just something to keep in mind is everything is much farther than it looks. There's so much walking. So while it may seem like, say, TI and the foundations at the Bellagio are close, it could be a long walk, especially in the heat.

I will echo PPs that the pirate show, fountains, etc is all going to be after it gets dark so you could be coming back to your hotel pretty late.

I've always hated the bus (the Deuce?) because traffic on the strip is just so slow. I've always walked.

Also not cheap, but pretty cool, is the Secret Garden at the Mirage which is a small zoo.

There's a pirate show at Treasure Island! They also have a huge arcade downstairs (or they used to)

There's a toddler and kid friendly park at one of the malls near the LAS airport. DS loved it! Let me go find it for you. In the meantime, here's some freebie stuff to do.

I haven't taken my guy to Vegas yet but I have been multiple times starting when I was very young. We do love many of the strip attractions like the bellagio fountains but most are late at night. And right now in the middle of summer it will be absolutely packed. As for moving around, we usually drive in and park at one hotel and walk (man does it hurt later).

If you are there during the day I highly recommend the Las Vegas children's museum. It isn't cheap but it is great fun. (I guess we took my little guy when he was about 2). Also I would do circus circus with kids. It's at the very end if the strip so pretty hard to get anywhere else but much more kid friendly. Another not cheap but fun thing is the aquarium at Mandalay bay. Then the tram or walking platforms to Luxor and Excalibur. We tend to stay at Excalibur the most.

If you want to avoid the strip there is the downtown which has the light show on the roof.

We are staying in Las Vegas for one night and our hotel is in Henderson so we won't be staying on the strip. I've never been to Vegas and I have no idea about how to get around. I've found a good website about free things to do with kids, like the fountain at Bellagio and the circus at Circus, Circus. Can anyone recommend free/cheap things to do with a 6 and 3 year old? Also, do you park and ride a bus or the monorail? Any tips are appreciated.
