@Matador84, yes, it is legal to order domperidone that way. I get it from inhousepharmacy.biz. I'm not a huge fan of drugs either, but I did a LOT of research prior to Lowly being born about increasing supply because I had problems with my first. I ended up using More Milk Special Blend because of the added goat's rue, and domperidone, as well as dehydrating and eating my placenta. I was determined to do what I could, and it did work. Now that Lowly is eating food (she'll be a year in a few weeks) we are golden. The domperidone, as far as drugs go, has been well researched as a galactagouge. Also, it has been used directly on infants to treat digestive issues, so it is regarded as being safe when excreted in breastmilk. I'd love to be a resource for you because this topic is something I have read up on so much because of my personal history with breastfeeding. The cluster feeding can help boost your supply, too, and if you are patient with it, it can also be a way of him continuing to get enough. Sometimes Lowly would cluster feed up to six times on each side at night, but she continued to thrive and gain weight. Babies do what they need to pretty instinctively (not at all saying there can't be issues that need to be addressed, but that they have a biological imperative to survive, and, historically, being able to nurse successfully is the way to do that). Also, if you decide to supplement, have you thought about using a SNS for the times you might be giving the supplement? That way the breasts are still being stimulated to produce milk, no BM gets wasted, and baby can eat the way he is used to having you feed him.

I keep a heating pad on my chest and do compressions while I pump. I've been able to get a bit extra each day by doing that.

@monkula I will check out the site, thanks! I am hoping the more milk plus helps, it has gotten such good reviews on the boards, I'm not a fan of taking rx drugs but I would almost be willing to order domperidone from overseas if its legal to do that? We are starting solids so I think it is helping but ds has almost been wanting to cluster feed at night because I think he's so hungry. Some nights he nurses twice, last night it was four times.

@mamacate thanks me too!

These are good to know. I wouldn't be opposed to mixing formula with breastmilk but if he throws that up I would freak at the waste of breast milk and be so mad at myself!

Sorry, no advice on the bf aspect, but if you do end up using formula I highly recommend gerber good start gentle. We had problems on formula til we switched to that and it seems to work well for lots of babies! Also enfamil ar for spit up. But I sincerely hope your supply problems are solved and you get to keep BFing!

Have you tried skin to skin? Strip that baby down and get your snuggle on. Try not to stress because that wont help things.

Are you exclusively pumping or breastfeeding and pumping? If the later, pump one side while nursing on the other. Then switch.

The other thing would be pumping during the night and making sure you are getting enough sleep. Keep up the hard work mama!

lowmilksupply.org is a great resource. There is also an excellent book; The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk. However, it seems like you are already doing all the things it would recommend you do. Don't overdo the water; drink to thirst. More than you need, counterintuitively, is not the best idea. Have you considered taking domperidone instead of the reglan? It would take a little while to get to you as you have to order from overseas, and it can take a little while to work, but it works better than the reglan for many people. There may be a LC or someone who could hook you up with some until you got your own supply. Also, is DS eating any solids? If so, the solids can also help fill in as a "supplement," assuming he's interested/wants to get some extra calories that way. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the domperidone-- I've been on it for several months now and it has really helped!

@matador84: Oh, formula allergies definitely exist and there are specific formulas for baby's who are allergic. But I would definitely talk to your pediatrician before you switch.

Oatmeal always helped get my supply up. Also is the cup size on your pump maybe a bit off? Mine had a silicone 'comfort' insert and it was horrid, once I took that out it worked a lot better.

@jmarionsmith A LOT. When he had formula on a few occasions, he would throw up all over me, basically I'd be covered in baby vomit shoulders down--so not just spit up. THe other day I had just gotten him cleaned up and sat him in his bumbo while I tossed in the laundry and he threw up basically stomach acid again. It was really sad! I have never heard of anyone being allergic to formula, but I wondered if that was the case also.

I can't help you with the breastfeeding issues as my milk never came in but have you considered that LO is allergic to the formula? Is he throwing up a lot or just a little? Every feeding or occasionally?

I've made it to almost six months of breastfeeding. DS has only had formula a few times and each time he has had it I've been desperate because I hadn't pumped enough and ended up throwing the formula up a few hours after he had it...when he'd only had as little as 1 oz.

I'm making a last ditch effort to try and save my supply. I was only able to pump 6 oz in a 24 hour period on Friday and I need to pump at least two more oz to send to daycare with him tomorrow so he'll have 8 oz. (He's 6 months old).

I'm drinking mother's milk tea and taking reglan. More Milk Plus is on the way from Amazon. I've been making lactation cookies every week with tons of brewers yeast.

Pumping as much as I can and in the morning when my supply seems highest....drinking tons of water...I'm like what am I doing wrong? I am not wanting to quit breastfeeding at all, especially with the problems formula has given us!
