@Anagram: I agree with everyone, you don't need the base. I have never used a bag for my stroller or infant car seat when I gate check. I've never noticed anything ucky on them. And, I say if you need to pump, pump wherever you are just use a cover. I sat on an airplane once next to a woman who had a single pump, and pumped both sides next to me (I was nursing next to her, so we were quite the lactation team!).

And, good luck! I bet your LO will sleep the whole time, that has what both of mine have done when I have flown with them that little :)

Leave the base at home! It's more of a hassle to carry. Especially if traveling solo. That was my #1 regret when I flew with LO by myself.

Get a bag for the carseat! Even if it's a trashbag. Our carseat got damaged (ripped fabric and stained) the 1 time we didn't travel with a bag. Ever since we've used a bag.

No limit to breastmilk bottles. You may be required to taste it, and they will put it though special screening.

I would not pump in the bathroom, you'll have too much stuff plus baby. pump in the car!

@Anagram: no bag for the stroller either. We are bringing an umbrella stroller with us tomorrow and I was going to get a bag for it but I forgot. Soooo we won't have one again.

@Anagram: we traveled without bags for the car seat and stroller and left the base at home as well. I agree with pumping in the car! Last time I traveled with LO as a lap baby, I took the diaper bag And a backpack. The backpack squeezed in the under-stroller compartment so I only had to carry both bags and also when I checked everything at the gate.

Good luck! I was so worried the first time I traveled with LO but she did fine. And if it is miserable, chances are you will never see any if the people from the plane again!

I have both used bags and not, cargo holds are gross!!

Also, if your stroller is in a bag, it means that no one will have unfolded/opened it for you, something else to consider.

Are you bringing a carrier of some sort?

We just checked the seat with the base on it, but that was back in the days when we used the carseat on a stroller frame and installing it multiple times with a seatbelt would have been a PIA. But I would recommend bags to help protect against damage and grossness.

@Anagram: we've never used a bag. Once it came out slightly dirty but I just wiped it up really quick. We've been on 3 trips with it and leaving for another tomorrow!

If you do really want to bring the base we always just clip it to the carseat when we gate check it. I do put a tag with my info on both in case it gets separated, but I've never had a problem!

How long are you gone for? I'd just leave the base at home if its not too long! It's a bit of a PITA to install the carseat each time, but in my opinion, its more of a PITA to bring the base.

Our stroller and carseat were always in a bag, and they always came out filthy. I'd try to get a cheapy bag or bring some giant garbage bags to wrap your stuff in.

The TSA website says "reasonable quantities for liquids" whatever that means. I've always informed TSA that I've got baby food/bottles when I get to the security belt and they've never given me a problem with it, but I've read stories about how people were asked to open up sealed containers of baby formula/food and then obviously it spoils within 1 hr... so fingers crossed they don't give you any trouble!

http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/traveling-children

I agree that it will be easier to pump in the car on the way there than in a bathroom stall!

Have a good flight!

Leave the base at home and use the seat belt to install the carseat.

Check your airline rules, but lap babies are entitled to a diaper bag carryon of their own, so you still have your two item allowance on top of the diaper bag (i recommend a backpack for ease).

I have used a heavy duty black garbage bag (the kind for yard work) to gate check strollers - it works in a pinch to keep the stroller clean. Just close it up with a rubber band.

I'd pump on the drives so that you aren't trying to control LO alone while pumping.

So, I'm flying alone with my 12 week old tomorrow and as is my nature, I am just starting to really think about the flight. I have a B Ready and. B Safe

-I'm gate checking the infant car seat and stroller....is there a way to also gate check the base or should I leave it home?

-She's going to be a lap child, so I'm only allowed to take 2 items on the plane-- the diaper bag can be my personal item. Should the base be my other item?

-I don't own a stroller bag or a car seat bag for the gate checking. Should I run out and buy a cheapie or should I go without?

-how much breast milk can I take in each bottle? Is there a limit?

- this is a 2 hr, 20 min flight....I exclusively pump and get super uncomfortable after 4 hours of not pumping. My husband is driving us there and my mom is picking us up, but with early arrival and waiting for my checked bag on the other end, I think it's going to go well over 4 hours. Should i Pump in the car on the way to the airport and pump in my moms car after or try pumping in the bathroom in the airport? Is it weird to have the pump noise in a stall in the handicapped toilet?

So many questions!
