DD (7 months) dropped the last nap around 6 months, so she is up from 2ish til 7 most days. It drives me crazy but daycare can't get her down at. 4. On weekends, she'll still take 3 naps for us but I suppose it's just too loud/ busy for my nosy, busybody DD!

hm, seems like most of you have at least two hours between the end of the last nap and bedtime. anyone push it more than that at 5 months?

@caffeinated: Same - I tend to feed him closer to 5 or else he gets annoyed at eating! Though today he needed the 4:15 nap because he only napped 1:30 total the rest of the day. Ugh!

Last nap: between 5 and 6, 20-30 min long, bed time at 8pm, 6 months old next Saturday!

We tried making his bed time earlier thinking that was his way of hinting to us but if we put him down before 7:30pm he only sleeps 20-30 min then is up for an 1 1/2-3 hrs.

LO is 7 months.

Wake up 7:30
Nap 1 9:30-11
Nap 2 1:30/2-3:30
Bedtime 7:30

He needs to be awake for 4 hours before bed if I want him to sleep well! Also, I just got him on this schedule like a week ago after a long struggle with dropping the third nap.

@bree72: Your schedule sounds ideal! My LO still is waking earlier, around 6 or 6:30 most days so we need the earlier nap. I hope in another month we can definitely eliminate the late day nap.

Yesterday, it worked fine. He napped from 4:40-5:20 and I made tons of noise and he woke on his own. Oddly was still ready for bed at 7:15, slept til 4, ate, then cood for like an hour before falling back asleep til 7.

@littlek: @winniebee: My LO is 7.5 months now and i'm so glad i put her in swim lessons. I was so proud when i dunked her in the water and she didn't even cry. A tip is to blow in their face so that they automatically close their eyes, and that's when you dunk them underwater! :)

Sometimes LO's last nap will end at 3-3:30pm, which kills me! Usually that means she'll go to bed earlier, around 6:30-6:45. Depending on when her first nap ends, i will sometimes put her in the Ergo and walk around the mall so that she has a quick 40 minute nap. Then i can put her down for her last nap at 3:30pm, which will end around 4:30-5pm and i can put her to bed at 7:30. I sometimes feel like i'm strategizing all day!

I can never seem to put her down for a nap after 4pm in the crib. If she wakes up earlier, like at 2:30, then i will put her in the Ergo so she has a short nap.

Our nap schedule is on-demand. We just try to put her down 2/2.5 hours after she wakes up. A typical (approximate) schedule looks like this:

8am- Wake up
10:30am-1st nap
12pm- Wake up
2pm- 2nd nap
4:30pm-Wake up
6:30pm-Bed time

The only thing that is consistent is her bedtime. The rest is subject to 30m-1hr difference, depending. Some mornings she wakes up at 7, sometimes 8:30... it just depends. She's 8 months old.

@winniebee: we started at 4 months an the first few he gave us pouty face. But today he actually laughed and had a good time. I think it's a matter of getting used to swim lessons. The best thing is he's exhausted afterwards and naps like a champ. I think it's good to start young so he has no fear of the water. He dunked his head in the water today and laughed. Some of my friends kids scream because they hate getting their head wet. I highly recommend swim classes young. :).

@betsyboop: I know it's crazy! It only happens at daycare on occasion - he usually naps 1-3 during the "all daycare nap" because it's pitch black and there's nice music. But apparently not this week And they couldn't get him to take a 4/4:30 catnap. Too much going on, apparently. I was shocked that he could make it that long, but he did. And slept 9.5 hours straight last night after that long stretch. I would move bedtime up, but I don't get home with him until 6.

- What time does your LO wake up from their last nap?

- When is bedtime?

- How old are they?

My LO goes to bed at 7. But his awake time before bed varies depending on how good his last nap was. He's up at least 2 hours between naps and I won't nap him after 4:30. Sometimes his last nap ends at 3....other times 5.....and a few times this week at daycare he didn't take a nap after 2! Oddly, the super long awake time before bed didn't seem to affect his sleep at all. I'm trying to figure out if he is ready to drop his 3rd nap. Today he was up from nap #2 at 2.....and I'm trying to nap him now at 4:30 and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere! He's 6.5 months.
