We've discussed it but haven't gotten anything in writing yet. Haven't even really come to an agreement yet. We talked about it when we first got married and both agreed it would be my sister and her husband. But when we talked about it again a few months ago (when we first started ttc), Hubs said he thought it would be his older brother. I love his brother, but he's divorced and not exactly the most stable person. He goes through girlfriends every few months and never really seems happy. I don't really want our kids to be raised in an environment like that! So it's something we really need to discuss again and finalize.

This is on our pregnancy to-do list. We luckily have people we will be asking to be the guardian for our kids if something happens to us, and if they are okay with that, that will go in our will.

This is scary for me to, we're both only children and I don't know if I want our older parents to have that burden.

We have discussed it but don't have anything in writing. If I could choose by myself I would pick my father or sister as a guardian.

We don't have a will yet but will have them written before the baby arrives. Right now we are leaning towards my brother and his wife. There is a chance that in the future we will change to my husband's sister but that will depend on if and who she marries in the future. My brother and his wife are very financially stable, and have the same value set as us. The only reason we may consider switching to my husband's sister at some point is that my brother and his wife aren't 100% sure if they want kids or not, so part of me feels bad sticking them with my kid if they decide they don't want kids. But I know they would love my children to pieces and give them the best care possible no matter what.

We have startd discussing this and will have it drawn up after baby girl is born. We go back and forth but right now think our best choice is DH's brother and his wife. They are financially stable and would raise our child with the same values that we would want her to be raised with. Both my sisters would be good choices as well, however they aer not as financially stable and I don't know if having another mouth to feed would come as easy to them.

Have you written a will? I got into a discussion with a friend the other day who is pg with her 2nd and she was advising me about "one of the other things" i should do is write a will.

i certainly agree with her but hadn't thought about it. if you do have a will, who have you willed your child/children to? DH and I discussed it the other night and it is very difficult for us. He does not have reliable/dependable family who we would want to raise the children around, and although my mom is fantastic-she is not financially savvy and we do not approve of her boyfriend. Dad and stepmom would be great...but they are getting much older in age and would be quite a burden. We aren't too sure about getting friends involved, even close ones...and no other siblings. Hopefully it's never needed, but scary to have to think about these things!
