I am a huge 529 fan, but good lord, you don't ask for cash via email. I think either bringing the gift or saving it for another kid is fine. We already bought a little toy and bday card for him and thought we were done and good to go. But I *just* got an email from the mom saying no gifts please and that we could donate to his 529 plan instead. </p> <p>I'm wondering since I already bought the toy if we should just give it to him and disregard the email? I hadn't planned on spending more than about $20 per 1st birthday party gift since we have so many events this year (other birthday parties, weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers, etc). We could totally afford to donate, but I just hadn't considered giving cash until I got the email today. And I don't know if it'd seem cheap to only give $20?</p> <p>What would you do? Thank you bees! </p>
