- Stay dry through naps

About 2 months after we day trained

- Stay dry through the night

Not consistent yet so she wears a diaper overnight

- Poop regularly in the potty

2 months after we introduced the potty

- Wipe themselves after going potty?

A few times this week. She is 2.5.

- Go on a grown-up toilet instead of a potty

Only in public. She prefers the smaller potty at home.

Thanks ladies! I think I didn't realize how long the full process is... although I am very much appreciating not changing and washing diapers already, and it is shocking how far our daughter has come in just several days. We did already hit one of my milestones. Apparently daycare has been leaving DD in undies during nap time, even though I had asked them to do diapers. She hasn't had any naptime accidents yet, so apparently we're naptime trained!

--DS was dry at nap within 1 month of PT, DD was dry at nap about 2.5 months after PT

Stay dry through the night
--DS was dry at night after 3 months, DD is currently 5 months past PT and she is starting to be dry in the AM.

Poop regularly in the potty
-- Both kids pooped and peed at the start of PTing

Wipe themselves after going potty
--Poop? Age 4 I taught DS because the DCP wont do it

Go on a grown-up toilet instead of a potty
--DS used the reg toilet within 1 month of PT - he wanted to stand up like daddy does, DD refused the little potty so she trained on the reg toilet

Regarding night training, there is nothing that you can do to expedite this, it's hormonal and if the body isn't secreting this hormone, they will not be able to stay dry overnight. The age when this hormone begins to be secreted varies widely, so it's not uncommon for kids to still be wetting at night through age 7, and possibly even beyond.

We always used the grown up toilet, not a potty. Perhaps you can investigate adding an integrated seat to your existing toilet? They sell them at Home Depot, they just replace your existitng seat, and when you don't need the ring any more, it snaps off. We also have a step around the toilet so my son just steps right up, sits and does his business.

I'm no expert and still going through this process as my LO is almost 2 years 8 months but here's my experience so far. We potty trained at 24 months (right after her 2nd birthday) so we've been using the potty for about 8 months and I can barely remember what it was like changing diapers (a good thing!). It's far from perfect but talking to my friends with older kids - there can be phases and regressions and you just stay consistent and they get back on track

- Stay dry through naps - i feel like she stayed dry through naps after a month or two. I can't really even remember the last time she went in her pull up at nap time.

- Stay dry through the night - I would say after a few months she woke up 75% of the time with a dry pull up (maybe a wet pull up once every few weeks). 8 months in I think we have had one wet pull up in the last 2-3 months.

- Poop regularly in the potty -she went poo in the potty within a few days. The first 2 days of potty training she went in her diaper at naptime. By day 3 of the 3 sag method she was going poo in the potty. She went poo in the potty regularly. In the first few weeks though she would occasionally go poo during naptime in her pull up but only a few times. And in the early months she did have a few poo accidents (and pee accidents)...like waiting for me in the bathroom and not being able to hold it by the time I got there...I felt awful. This worked itself out within a few months

- Wipe themselves after going potty - 8 months in and we are still working on it. I have friends with 3.5 year olds that are just starting to get better at wiping so I think we have a ways to go on this

- Go on a grown-up toilet instead of a potty - she used a little potty for a few months and then we just got a potty cover that went on the regular toilet. So maybe 3 months in we completely switched. She always used the big potty with a cover upstairs at nap and bedtime but used the little potty downstairs until I realized that was stupid and I should just have her go on the big potty

I'm wondering when kids start being able to use the potty independently and just ask for help to wipe. My LO still needs help pulling down her pants and getting herself on the potty. We are hoping by the end of the summer she will be doing this herself. I need to find some better stools and put her in loose fitting pants (leggings are tough to pull down!)

We successfully did the 3-day potty training over the long weekend. (Yay!) DD is peeing in her potty now and telling her caregivers when she has to go. Pooping is not going so well though. She has yet to poop in her potty. (Boo.) Anyways, there is a lot written about how to start potty training your child, but I'm curious about some of the later stages. For those who have successfully navigated this process, when did your child first --

- Stay dry through naps
- Stay dry through the night
- Poop regularly in the potty
- Wipe themselves after going potty
- Go on a grown-up toilet instead of a potty

Any useful info on any of these stages of potty training would be very helpful to me!
