We've done this with our 4yo and 17mo. DS knows some books by heart and will "read" them to DD. she doesn't have a lot of attention span though, so she runs away. It's cute to watch for the few minutes that it lasts!

I hope in the future they will! My almost 3 year old "reads" simple picture books (like the "baby's first animals/colors/shapes" variety) to her dolls, since her one year old sister won't sit still and listen.

This works great for our baby and three year old! She can't read obviously but she will sit and hold up the book and tell him about the pictures. Totally buys us a few minutes at least!

Was flying solo tonight so I tried this out, and it was a great success! We have a 5 and a 3 year old, and it turns out that books that the five year old can read are about the same level that our three year old can understand. Plus she hangs on his every word, so she was rapt the entire time.

Not sure we'll use it regularly, but it's nice to have in the hip pocket in case of emergency!
