@CarDad: @avivoca: Haha right on! Totally what I did. DH was not very supportive with me trying to fix this over the weekend b/c it wasn't leaking that much. :)

@T.H.O.U.: Haha I already fixed this. I replaced the washers in the faucet handles. It was fairly cheap and easy to do. Thank goodness for youtube!

DH thought I was being silly for fixing such a small leak though.

@Raindrop: I've used Pretty Handy Girl's tutorials to fix my sink before with great success. Here's what she has to say:

Look up how to replace a faucet cartridge on youtube. It literally takes a few seconds and the part costs under $10. Most drips are caused by this part failing.

Can you just replace the faucet? Thats usually not that expensive.

@avivoca: I put a cup under the faucet overnight and it was leaking about 2 cups of water in 10 hours! I actually googled how much that would cost us a year... and it was low ... 6 cents a year.

It looks like 2 drips per second cost 1.5 dollars a year. I didn't know tap water was so cheap till this.

@Raindrop: That one drip every 30 seconds is going to add up and could get worse over time... I'd definitely fix it! The bad leak in the house was from the toilet and our other toilet is currently shut off until we can get a new one because the tank was leaking.

@avivoca: Oh yeah leaking pipes are a must fix now thing! Our bathroom faucet that leaks into our sink was leaking maybe once every 30 seconds and DH said that fix could wait... but I wanted to fix it right away so I was just curious what others would think.

If it drips, we get it fixed. The previous owner of our house failed to get water leaks fixed and we had some really bad rot under our floors from a water leak in the bathroom. I also had a pipe leaking in my backyard that cost me a fortune in water bills before we were able to a)locate it and b) get it repaired.

Just curious. Let's say this is a bathroom faucet.

How often do you have to see a drop of water drip for you to consider fixing the faucet?
