I have lean PCOS, and high AMH because I NEVER ovulated (I use PCOS because I've since had a successful IVF pregnancy and have not had AF since birth and am 7 months pp.).

Our course of treatment involved 3 REs, 2 failed IUI (clomid/femara leading to overresponse and cancelled insemination), and then IVF resulting in 1 fresh transfer and 5 frosties awaiting transfer.

I don't share this to scare you, but with our doctor's encouragement we went ahead and did IVF. It made no sense to me to continue trying medicated cycles if I wasn't a prime candidate. From what I've heard, many PCOS women are good candidates for IVF.

Thank you both.
I have my next appointment with the RE in 2 weeks. I am taking a month off of any medication before I start new rounds of femara. At the appointment, I know we will discuss IUI and the process around that as well as trigger shots next time. Prior to any IUI, my husband is going to go in for SA. I am keeping a list of questions to ask my RE. If you all can think of any good ones, please let me know.
Best of luck to you both! It sounds like progress is being made!

I don't have PCOS but I'll chime in anyways..

I am on my third medicated cycle (1st with Clomid and now on my 2nd round of Femara) and I need the trigger shot to ovulate. Without it my follicles just keep growing until they are over-mature. The trigger shot is super easy and it's nice to have the peace of mind to know when you will ovulate.

Has your husband had a semen analysis? I think that would be a good step before jumping to IUI. I think doing IUI only increases your chances by around 3% per month given there are no male factor issues.

@eg88: Welcome to HB! Sorry that this is what brings you here, but just know that there are many of us who have a very similar experience as you! You've really come to the right place!

I was also diagnosed with PCOS - I'm not overweight, some acne. No BFP with Clomid. With my RE, I did 1 timed intercourse cycle, 3 IUIs and then I got pregnant with our first round of IVF.

It's frustrating when you're on medication and your body still isn't doing what it's supposed to do. For me, though, I needed every. single. step. of my ovulation to be manipulated by medication or else it wouldn't happen. The trigger shot was my friend!

Anyway, I think you'll find lots of success stories on here from people who had a very similar start as you!

Hello Everyone! This is my first post, and I am desperately looking for answers. I am 28 years old and my husband (31) and I have been TTC for a year. After coming off birth control last year, I did not have AF on my own. We also then realized I do not OV on my own. My OB prescribed 50mg Clomid and I ovualted CD18 but no BFP. On my second round of 50mg clomid, no OV. In third month, 100mg did not have successful OV either. I began seeing an RE 6 months ago. He diagnosed me with lean PCOS. My hormone levels, AMH, and bloodwork all came back normal, I am not overweight, no excess or loss of hair, some acne after coming off BCP but has gotten much better, and I have polycystic ovaries. The RE put me on 5mg letrozole in which I ovulated on CD17 two months in a row but no BFP. This past moth was my third month. I have ultrasounds CD13-17 that showed a dominant follicle of 2.6cm on CD17. I also had "OV cramping" on CD17 so we assumed successful OV. My progesterone level test on CD23 revealed I did not ovulate. I am so disappointed and confused. I do not understand how I did not ovualte especially given the dominant follicle. My RE wants me to take a month off and possibly try and HCG trigger shot and even IUI with my next round of letrozole (femara). I have had trouble finding other people with lean PCOS who then have similar symptoms. Any information or advice would be appreciated!
Thank you!
