SO cute! I had to send the link to DH, who is a total ski bum! We've always planned to start LO on skis as young as possible. But she's a Spring baby, so we'll try next year, when she's closer to 2.

Have you seen this IG family: @snowboardingbaby
http://web.stagram.com/n/snowboardingbaby/
They put their LOs on boards to practice at home on the carpet at 9 months old! lol!

@chopsuey: hahaha that is totally my vision too. I might ski for an hour or two but it's not something I really enjoy. I'd rather hang out at the lounge ;)

Our kids will definitely learn. I'm not a fan of snow sports, but dh is a pro. It'll be something fun for them to do together while I chill at the lounge drinking hot chocolate :P

We don't have kids yet, but when we do I plan to start them skiing as young as possible. My dad had me on the slopes in a carrier when I was 15 months old, and skiing is just something I've always done. It helps that I grew up in a ski town in Utah about 5 minutes from 3 different ski areas. I'd like to have any kids do the same. It obviously greatly depends on where we'll be living, but at the very least we'll visit my family each year in the wintertime.

I'd rather they start (and stay, lol) on skis. If they want to switch to snowboarding I *guess* that would be ok, but it won't be encouraged, haha.

@looch: @hotchildinthecity: I feel the same. I had a really great all day lesson one time which helped a lot, but I can still only snowboard backwards i.e the toe edge. My brain just cannot figure out the heel edge thing, I am too old and scared!

We always saw the tiniest kids on skis in Japan - even bundled up babies in an ergo skiing with their parents!

I'd love to get DD on skis next winter at 2.5. It's so much easier to learn when you're young and fearless and low to the ground. And she's a total daredevil so I think she'll love it. Not sure if a wintery getaway will be in the cards though since one adult will always need to be with her and the other indoors with dd#2.

My husband is an extreme sports fanatic. We will probably get our son on a snowboard next winter (he just turned 2 last month) and maybe a skateboard this summer (@ 2.5). He already has a Spooner that he plays with inside and loves!

haha I sent this to DH yesterday and he is in search of boots small enough for DD. We know Burton makes really small boards but we cant find the boots. I might have to contact burton to see if they will sell us a pair of custom boots. DH is determined to have DD snowboard.

@hotchildinthecity: I agree, its great to learn when you have balance and flexibility and agility!

The worst part for me was that I got SO tired just from trying to stand up over and over again! A kid is used to that.

I think it's a good idea to get kids on the slopes as young as possible, while they're still close enough to the ground that falling isn't a big deal. I started too late and as a result, I can't confidently ski and now, I can't learn because I am too afraid of falling!

My son has Alpine blood, but he's never been skiing because it's remarkably difficult to access, even in the Alps...it involves a long commute to the slopes and then a gondola ride to the mountains! You'd think they'd have learning slopes, but they don't really.

My two nephews tried this on a kid size snowboard when we went skiing last year. It was so cute seeing them. It's so cool seeing them keep balanced on it.
