@Freckles: I'm not even due until July, but I already know that next April, I have a work conference to go to in another state (it's every year), so I will have to leave my LO for 3-4 days when she's 9 months old. I was kind of excited about it---like....a reason to have a break for a few days. lol

After i told DH it may be 4 days, he took a big gulp and brought up coming along with LO and making it a family trip.

@Mrs. High Heels: I was actually looking forward to some down time, being able to sleep in until 7AM!

@artbee: Aww, that's not true! Seriously, i always thought that i'd love time away from LO, but these days i just miss her so much. Maybe it's because i am now back at work! I understand your feelings though. :)

I left DD at nine months to have a girls' long weekend with my BFFs in Sonoma. It felt so luxurious and I was actually thrilled to be away. I did miss DD a lot, but she and DH were fine without me. If I had been pumping at the time, it would have been a lot more stressful, I think, but I FF with DD.

I had to take a 4 day business trip when LO was 14 weeks old. It was hard, but we all survived! Both my husband and I have had to take multiple trips for work since then. It helps me to think about how appreciative I am that I only need to be gone a short time while some of our country's active duty military mom and dads may need to go much longer without seeing their LOs. If they can do it for months at a time I can certainly suck it up and do a week!

I took a cross-country business trip when LO was 10-months old... and although I hated the thought of leaving her, once I did, it felt really nice to have some quiet downtime for myself in my hotel room. I quite enjoyed it!

I probably shouldn't answer because you probably won't like it. I left LO at 17 months for one night. DH and I gave each other a night out at a hotel as our chanukah gifts and my parents said they'd watch LO. I did have fun.... but I really really missed LO and I just kept thinking, "why am I here? I could be with LO!"

I'm glad we went because it was/is good for our relationship, just like in your situation it will be good for your career. But I wasn't in a rush to go again any time soon.

It looks like i'll be on a business trip next month. I thought it would only be 2 days, but there's a good chance it will be 4. Wahh!

LO is 12 months, and i already feel guilty being at work! My VP said, well, not to worry if it's going to cause family stress but a part of me feels like it's a good move for me to go since i'll be getting face time with my superiors (i work in a different office).

How was your first time away from your LO? Was it easier or harder than you thought it would be?
