@Freckles: Are you more worried that LO will be stressed or that your parents (or inlaws) will be stressed? If it goes horribly then you can try another trial? And keep trying until you decide to just go away for the night or give up those plans to stay home. :(

It's a tough one. My parents have put LO to bed a lot but at our own home. DD has never slept over anywhere else.

@Rubies: Next weekend!

Hmm, maybe we'll do a trial night first. But what if it goes horribly? Haha

I totally second @Rubies: about giving it a trial run while you and DH go out for just a couple hours.
My DD has spent the night at my parents house since she was 6 months old. She loves it! It only happens once every couple of months but she always ask because well, grandma's house is fun! haha(:

Yes, take lots of familiar bedtime items! We just got back from TX and I only brought one stuffed animal. Made our first night there difficult!
I would do a test run before you take off with your DH too.

Before you bite the bullet and leave overnight, could you and DH go out for coffee or dinner nearby and have grandparents try out a trial bedtime with LO?

In terms of minimizing the stress - are you able to bring a bunch of familiar bedtime things to help LO feel more at home?

We live a 4 hour plane ride away from LO's grandparents, who we see every few months. We will be visiting them soon, and DH and i discussed taking an overnight trip and leaving her with them overnight.

Some things i'm worrying about:
- Unfortunately, i have always been the one to put her to sleep at home (she has no problem at daycare)
- Because she doesn't see the grandparents ALL the time, i'm not sure how comfortable she'll be with them (without us around).

She'll be 15 months old. We're thinking of leaving her either 4 days after we arrive, or 2 weeks after.

Any thoughts/advice to minimize stress for LO and grandparents?
