Do you have a store near you like target or walmart because then you could buy a little cooler bag on your lunch break.

@kokobee: The only problem with this is that if it freezes and then starts to thaw then you have to use it within 24 hours!

You can leave it out for 10 hours before putting it in the fridge. Will that get you to home? After you take it out of the fridge, it should be ok for about and hour. If you have some paper bags in the kitchen office (or maybe a nearby convenience store?) you can double those up and they'll keep the milk cool for a while inside them on your ride home.

Ok thanks ladies. Maybe I'm freaking out for no reason :) I'm just so used to keep the milk in the little cooler. Which is funny because when I buy organic milk from Whole Foods near my job I don't freak out about anything happening to it on the commute home.

I agree that 30 minutes sounds like it would be fine, if you are starting with it cool already, but you could probably get a really cheap styrofoam cooler from CVS or the grocery store and an ice pack, if you are worried. Is the commute in an air conditioned car or public transportation? If it's in the AC car, just make it extra cold in the car!

30 minutes should be fine but if you're that worried you can always go buy a bag of ice??

30 minutes is no problem at all! It takes me about 45 minutes by the time I get LO from daycare and get the milk in the fridge at home every day and I don't use an ice pack!

@mrsjazz: I think it will be ok for your commute home! 30 mins isn't that long and the milk should be fine. :-)

@sloaneandpuffy: I edited my post :) I can keep the milk in the small fridge we have at work, but I don't have the cooler to transport from work to home.

@looch: We do have a cafeteria but it's closed for the summer! booo! My commute is about 30 minutes...maybe it will be okay if it's cold in the fridge all day and then I just rush it home.

Is your commute really long, do you go by public transport, do you have a cafeteria in your workplace?

I'd go and ask in the cafeteria, I am sure they have a plastic tub they could fill with ice.

I am not sure if the question is about not keeping it cold all day? It can probably go up to 8 hours... just smell it when you get home before you put it in the frig.

So now I have to figure out a way to get this milk home after work! Any ideas?

ETA: Storage at work is fine--we have a fridge, I just don't have the cooler to transport the milk from work to home.
