At 32 weeks I just wore leggings and a sweatshirt out to walk the dog. I should be more ashamed, but dammit, I wanted to be comfortable!

I'm absolutely dreading this in the coming months.... I currently wear a 12-14 but it is near impossible to find jeans that fit my "athletic" thighs. I can only imagine how hard its going to be when i add maternity into the mix. I hate leggings and skinny jeans with a passion. I just think a slight flare to a pant give a much better and more flattering leg line.

@Foodnerd81: I'm 22 weeks and 5'10" tall, and I'm up 30 lbs from a previously "normal range" weight. At 8 weeks i couldn't wear my regular pants anymore. I bought a bunch of size medium maternity pants which stopped fitting by about 14 weeks. So I bought larges and now those are too tight too. In the butt and thighs--my thighs look like sausages in the work slacks from motherhood maternity. (I can't even pull the mediums up anymore; i tried yesterday in a fit of insanity.)

I'm not surpised, as i've always put on weight easily in the butt and thighs so there's no reason this would be different (except up, baby isn't growing in my butt and thighs? lol).

My dresses are borderline not fitting but I just bought a pile of maternity dresses online. I hadn't wanted to, but with 18 weeks left to go, i need something to wear!

I agree with leggings not pants - except if I had PERFECT thighs that didn't wiggle or jiggle (and hardly anyone does). But occasionally I see a pregnant woman wearing a cozy sweater and a nice thick pair of leggings, with nice legs, and I think 'dang that'd be nice!'

I am not pregnant and I can totally commiserate! I only wear them with dresses that are just a touch too short otherwise because they are far more comfortable than tights. I guess I wear running style ones but to be honest I only wear them running outside, I would rather die than wear them to the gym!

I definitely hear you on this-- I'm anti leggings as pants in general, unless you are quite fit and going to or from the gym! How far along are you-- like is this early stages and you haven't bought maternity pants yet, or late and even your mat pants are uncomfortable now? Do you have any dresses that fit, so you could just act like the leggings are tights (like hosiery, not like running pants).

Mumus can be chic; you just have to find the right one! ;)

I would never wear leggings as pants...I think it's a huge travesty no matter what your body shape. Unless you're under the age of 10 or so, then it's okay. As a tall person, I do hate that I can never find tunics long enough to wear with leggings! (maternity or regular)

I looooove my leggings from motherhood maternity. Especially now that I've grown a bit and my large size jeans and work pants have become uncomfortably tight. (I own one XL pair and they're loose like hammer pants...so wtf.)

Anyway I would like to wear my leggings more but all the maternity tunics are SO SO short! My body type is blessed with those 'American Thighs' that are the first spot to gain weight, so they've... gotten more than a little flabby with pregnancy. I definitely don't feel comfortable wearing leggings as 'pants', or even with a shirt or dress that hits very far above the knee. It doesn't look good and is definitely not appropriate professionally.

Ah, silly little problems. Commiserate? I kind of wish it was the 80s so we could all just dress in mu-mus.
