We've been to both places and at this age, Legoland wins my vote for sure! My kids 5.5/3.5/2 loved it when we went for spring break this year. Disneyland is more hectic and definitely more expensive and I think at that age, they don't appreciate it as much even though the parades are awesome!

I agree with Mrs. High heels! We live near both and I vote legoland. It's much less crowded, the rides are more suitable for younger kids, and a lot more for them to do besides rides (building stations, Lego viewing areas). Disneyland in theory is better but it's hard when it's crowded and hot and the lines are so long and much more $$$

@SugarplumsMom: legoland!! I wrote a post about it - my kids really loved it!! They even have a playground there. I just felt like there was a lot more for young kids than just standing in long lines all day long. Plus when you stand in line, a lot of rides have a section to the side with a bunch of Legos so the kids can play while the parents wait in line. If it's closer to you anyway, definitely Legoland!! Look for deals- there are always some discount or another for Legoland out there. We are actually going this Saturday!

My DD went to Disney World when she was 2. She loved it and it was great. Although I dont know if she truly full remember it, she still talkes about "her castle" as she loves to see the pictures and videos we took from it. We are taking her to Disneyland next month and she is 3 now.

I took Charlie to Disneyland when he was 3 1/4 and Olive was under 2 so free, but he was a little too young. I think 4 is the perfect age. I took Charlie and Olive to Legoland when they were 5 and 3, and they had SO MUCH FUN. It was really the age.

I think Disneyland is fun for a long time but Legoland has a much smaller age range for kids. So go to Legoland!

We're thinking about visiting family in SoCal and although grandma's excited to bring DD to Disneyland, I'm not sure if it'll be too overwhelming for her. Disneyland is farther away and would require a hotel stay, which would increase our costs.

In your opinion, which amusement park is better suited for a 4.5 year old? What's the ideal age for going to both?

Thanks!
