I had minimal tearing and I bled for 8 weeks. It was very minimal at 6 weeks, but when I would exert myself (like to take LO for a walk in the stroller), I would start bleeding/spotting again.

@Alphagam84: Yeah, I was a bit surprised. Maybe they want me to take it easy because I had extremely low platelets (clotting factors) during delivery and required 2 blood transfusions, and then passed a softball-size clot 4 days after delivery :-/ I also have to go for bloodwork and meet with a hematologist at 4 weeks PP.

I bled more heavily for 2 weeks. I was going through many thick pads a day...Bleeding had tapered to spotting by my 6 week appointment and I had switched to panty liners.

TMI...I had been warned by a few people that they passed a large clot right before the bleeding tapered significantly...this followed true for me. I passed a sizeable clot (almost golf ball size) and then the next morning noticed a huge decrease in my bleeding...

I think I wore pads for a week or two, bleeding was gone by about 3 weeks. I had my pp appointment earlier, 4 weeks instead of 6, because my OB was moving away, and I had no bleeding at that point.

I didn't have any tearing the first time, and bled for 5 weeks, I only had "road rash" the second time, and bled FOREVER, probably 8-9 weeks? Although I think it was spotting for the last couple of weeks. I had really light spotting just for a day or two at 11 weeks, which made me think I might be pregnant again, but I wasn't.

I would think you could exercise sooner. No need to wait for the bleeding to stop. I was walking the day we came home from the hospital and running and doing yoga at 3 weeks pp and I was definitely still bleeding. My OB said it was fine as long as I felt good.

Still wearing regular pads at five weeks. Stopped bleeding at exactly six weeks for my first two so it looks like that's how it's going this time.

I had pretty significant tearing and needed a pad for several weeks (maybe 3-4)? I had to wear a pantiliner for months but it was mostly brownish by that point. Despite the continued spotting,at my 6 week appointment my OB said I was clear for exercise.

I stopped wearing a panty liner both times at 5 weeks. There were times where it seemed gone and then came back. I stopped wearing a pad and started with a panty liner around 3ish weeks.

I stopped wearing s panty liner right at 5 weeks. Switched from pads to liners a week or two before that. Probably could have sooner but every once in a while it would be heavy for like an hour and I never knew when it would come.

My OB said I shouldn't resume yoga or any exercise until my bleeding has completely stopped for at least 24 hours. So, just wondering.... when did yours?

And if you want to get more specific, you could comment with how long you were wearing pads vs. pantiliners, etc; and any factors that influenced this (obviously I assume more tearing=more time bleeding).

yay for TMI!
