We just got over the same thing two weeks ago. 17 month old with a fever that hovered in the 101-102 range (spiked at 103ish) lasted Monday morning through Friday afternoon. So almost 5 full days. Went to the dr on the third day because he had never had a fever longer than 24 hours before and dr said it was just a virus. It's so hard because while it's great that it's just a virus and nothing more serious it sucks not knowing when it would end. I hope things clear up soon.

DS had one recently that lasted 4 days and then we found out that it was a double ear infection.

The longest (4 days) was with roseola. The rash popped up once the fever went away.

@Corduroy: Oh no! Sorry that you went through that. I just emailed her doc with an update. I imagine if there's concern, we'll probably get a call soon. Selfishly, I was hoping today was the last day of fever (as my husband and I are taking time off work to take care of her) ... It's hard!

I think LO had a fever for 6 or 7 days around that age. I think 5 days of fever was the cut off for extra testing (screening for UTIs, pneumonia xray, & an RSV swab, and antibiotics). LO was diagnosed with viral pneumonia shortly before that cut off so we got to skip the catheter UTI test.

I hope I'm not remembering too incorrectly.

@brady80: Thanks!! The annoying thing is that we were JUST at the doc on Friday for her check-up, and everything was great. As soon as we left, she spiked a fever. :(

This has happened a few times. Once it was HFM and once Roseola. Over Christmas she had a fever for five days. We took her in at day two to rule out an ear infection. Eventually the fever went down and she was fine, ended up having a cough but nothing else. We are currently on day three of a fever and took her in today and she has an ear infection. It may be worth it to go in and make sure the ears are clear.

@littlejoy: I asked about roseola and her ped couldn't confirm if that was it or not. But most of E's viruses have ended in a rash at the end, right when the fever breaks.

@blackbird: A had that virus in January. Roseola? Long fever, ending in rash. It was scary!!

@MamaBehr: Weird!! Our LO wasn't responding to tylenol yesterday either. We gave it twice (over the course of the day), and when we checked her fever 45 min later, it was still high. Motrin seems to work really well for her.

She's been sleeping on me for 3 hours, after sleeping 10 hours last night. I think we are going to wake her soon and try to get her to drink more pedialyte.

Took her to ped on day 4 and 5 and then on day 6 she broke out in HFM

DS, who is also 15 months old, just got over a 4 day fever. He spiked on Thursday at 104, and it was a yo-yo until this morning. We just treated it with motrin (no Tylenol because he just didn't respond to it as well). DS wouldn't eat either, but was drinking so much milk, so I wasn't too worried.

E had one for about 5 days before Christmas. It was just a really unpleasant virus that made her feel crappy. We actually took her in on the last day, when the rash broke out. She wasn't eating great, just moany and wanted to lay on the couch with me and watch tv all freaking day. Cool baths, too. And we did everything you are doing--pedialyte, pedialyte popsicles....

Baby (15 months) has had a fever since Friday afternoon. Hovered around 102 all weekend. Have been treating with acetemenophin and ibuprofen. Wouldn't eat yesterday. Provided water, a pedialyte type drink, Popsicles. Fever was down this morning, but back up. She's super tired. Wet diapers are still regular.

Has your babe ever had a long fever? Was there a point where you got worried? Any advice on signs that would indicate anything? Doctor is not concerned (says its a virus), but didn't advise on her not wanting to eat. I'm worried. :(
