@photojane: Thanks for the info! I was thinking about getting a 35mm, but I wasn't sure how the 35mm/f2 compared to the 50mm/f1.8, since the 35mm/f1.4 is WAY too expensive! Do you find the f2.0 stop works just as well at 35mm? <-- I don't really know enough about the interactions of the two numbers, haha.

@Adira: They're pretty comparable, but I just like to shoot a little bit wider than the 50. You can always crop down if you shoot too wide with the 35, but you can't add after you've taken the picture with the 50! The 50 is great for portraits, but 35 is more versatile in my opinion (portraits, group shots, small spaces, etc.).

@photojane: Is the 35mm a LOT better than the 50mm?

@sorrycharlie: You can get it refurbished on B&H or Adorama for a little cheaper. They're refurb'd by the manufacturer, so good as new, but cheaper. They're warranted too. Adorama has one now: http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20596053.html

You don't need anymore! :)

Unless you're interested in nature photography or getting seriously into portraiture, the 35mm is all you need. It's a great every day lens.

I have a Nikon D3100. I have the 35mm on my wish list (per a recommendation from another bee).

any other lens recommendations to throw on my wish list?
