We get LO a grilled cheese and bring stuff like apple slices, celery and carrots, or cantaloupe. He gets a little sticky, but not too terribly bad. He only has two teeth too

@wonderstruck: Good to know. Yeah she definitely eats things that surprise me- she had quinoa and black bean burgers this week! Delicious but so messy. Chicken pieces, nice and neat to clean up, she's like, meh.

She does like pears, so that's another good one. I guess I should stock up on pouches too for on the go.

@Foodnerd81: My LO ate it back when he had two teeth, but he has a huge appetite and will eat many things that shock me. He's not a fan of cheese cubes or anything, but I do think it's different when it's melty. He was probably around 9 months the first time he had it, I don't think it's much harder to chew than toast.

@prettylizy: She won't eat Cheerios! What kid won't eat cheerios? She didn't even like the puffs I tried-- they are delicious! But she will happily pick up peas. Weirdo.

@wonderstruck: When did you start with grilled cheese? She's not really into regular cheese, though we haven't tried it in a couple of weeks since she was also constipated, but I feel like you need to chew it to really taste it when it's cold. Melty would probably be more tasty but I wonder if she could eat it with two teeth.

At home, I feed C whatever and deal with the mess-- broccoli confetti everywhere? Fine. Avocado smears? Whatever. But when we are out, or eating at someone else's house, any recommendations for foods that are less messy to clean up?

I have found pancakes make minimal mess, and steamed carrots are usually OK. Toast is fine. What else do you feed your BLW baby (or, just a baby who isn't doing purees anymore) while you are out and about?

C is 8.5 months. We do some spoon feeding-- prune puree and yogurt, which are both messy on her face but at least the surrounding area is still clean-ish, and I've giving her pouches with minimal mess, relatively speaking.
