I would never have attempted to kill it...a friend tried to smash one like that with a shoe while we were traveling in Malaysia, and it literally REARED UP at him like it was going to attack as soon as he lifted the shoe. </p> <p>I have done (c) with a gigantic tropical cockroach (about the size of my thumb). I trapped it under a glass, and put a book on top for good measure (in case it tried to tip the glass over or something).
