Poop is hard. The same poop could be many different things. If this is a first time, I would wait and see if it passes in a few days. It could be that he has a virus. It could be he got a little too much foremilk. It could also be his body adjusting to the vegetables. If it lasts a whole it could be a food intolerance.

Here is what I learned. Yellow poop is perfect. Brown poop is poop that has been in the digestive tract longer. This isn't typically something to worry about. Unless your baby acts to be in pain. Breastfed babies can be constipated if they have food intolerances. They will make logs whIch isn't normal. Constipation in a breastfed baby is almost always food related. Green poop is food that runs through digestion too fast. This means the food isn't getting digested. Often this is a little bug and will pass. Or again it may be that they had a hard time with something you ate. Most common food intolerances are milk and soy.

Don't worry yet. It won't kill them my son had bad stools till he was 10 months old.

I asked the doctor what dark and green meant for newborn's when DS was that age and he said it just meant he was exposed to some type of bacteria and that it should go away in a few days. Sure enough it did and went back to the yellow-seedy type. I know...not that helpful!

BB M is almost 3 weeks old and yesterday most of her poop was a thicker dark greenish brown color.
Prior to that her poop was the yellow seedy consistency that it should be for BF baby., We do supplement with formula but last two days it has actually been less formula than days prior. We're down to 1-2 2oz formula a day.

My diet has only changed slightly in that my mom is letting me eat veggies now (Chinese custom for pp care).
I think she's getting enough hindmilk. I usually nurse on one side wait for her to spit my nipple out before offering the other if she's still awake.

She def has enough wet diapers each day. With the exception of last two days her BMs were very regular. But last two days she often has what we call "skid marks" just a little bit of dark poop.

Thoughts?
