I took some time off TTC because of vacation and a CP followed by an anovulatory cycle. So it's been about 3 months since I had a legit TWW.

I've been pretty chill so far this cycle but now that the TWW is ramping up I'll probably go nutso again.

My husband has apparently caught the fever too because he's been texting me baby names. LOL. He is so excited to become a dad.

You never know! I'm sending good luck vibes your way!

TTC taught me so much about how my body works. When discussing it, I'd basically have to give biology lessons to my friends. Lol. We're either not taught this in school, or we forget all about it.

How amazing would it be if science could tell us right away if an egg as been fertilized, and if that fertilized egg is likely to survive?? No more two week waits!

Thanks for the info! The app I use is called Kindara and I like it so far. This is my first month diligently logging CF and CP so I'll be interested to see if it changes my O date based on that data. It has always just had it at CD 13, right in the middle of my 26ish day cycles.

So perhaps this means I have already ovulated... though the firmness started yesterday and I haven't seen a rise in temps yet. In fact my BBT this morning was surprisingly low! (A small victory actually because we don't have air conditioning and work pretty hard with fans and drafts to cool the house down at night.)

I do think I ovulate early in my cycle but not early enough that I would have reached implantation by now. I know that the egg releases zinc "sparks" immediately upon fertilization so perhaps that could affect the cervix? That's total speculation as I don't think science has gotten that far yet though. The zinc itself was just discovered in 2014.

Been doing some googling and I have found two other message boards where women had this same question and ended up being pregnant. I'm definitely not getting my hopes up BUT it would be a cool early predictor of pregnancy if it turns out that I am.

Even if I'm not, I'm learning that the cervix holds SO MUCH information about fertility, it's pretty incredible!

I believe the cervix actually becomes softer once your body recognizes a fertilized egg. Otherwise, it becomes firmer after you ovulate and stays like that until your period.

Unfortunately, if you're on day 13, unless you ovulated very very very early, I don't think your body could know you're pregnant. It takes awhile for fertilization and then implantation to occur. I was always told that your body doesn't start changing/releasing pregnancy-related chemicals until after the fertilized egg has implanted (usually 1-2 weeks after fertilization).

I love your chart, though. What app do you use?

Ok this question is for the serious charting witches, those of us who have become intimately familiar with our cervixes.

Your cervix is supposed to get higher, softer and open up as you approach ovulation.

The idea behind a soft, open cervix is that it allows sperm through. I haven't really gotten a handle yet on figuring out if it is "open," but I can definitely feel the difference in height and firmness.

I'm on CD 13 now and my cervix has been high for the past couple of days, but it feels like it is getting firmer, not softer. My cervix was low and soft around CD 9, when I also had eggwhite CF. After that I had a couple days of lotion-y CF and now we are back to eggwhite.

Is it possible that a high, firm cervix means that I am pregnant? It would make sense evolutionarily as the cervix is trying to do its part to ward off infection and not let anything through. If I am already pregnant then it may react automatically to firm up and close even though it hasn't fallen back down to its normal position yet.

Thoughts? Any other theories why my cervix might be high AND firm? My chart is attached.
