A few thoughts:
-I rarely can smell poop when my daughter is wearing her Bumgenius 4.0 cloth diapers, unless it is super smelly (we're working on solids at 8 months) and/or very large
-My daughter usually just gets diaper rash if sick, then we go to disposables plus desitin at night which somewhat helps
-overnight our best solution has been Nikki's diapers cotton/bamboo fitted with a cover. Her skin will be wet and the diaper feels wet (and sometimes has poop) but not irritated (unless sick as I mention above)
-we don't use diaper cream regularly, but if she's a little pink but not too bad shape we use coconut oil or CJs butter

R doesn't seem bothered by poop at all. Only a couple times, day or night, will cry from it. But she gets a horrible rash if you don't change her right away. Luckily now, we can smell them if we don't see her poop face. We use Huggies overnights. Destin (purple) seems to work the best for her when she has a rash. Triple Paste doesn't work as good. If she doesn't have a rash we lather up with with Aquaphor before bed.

We use 7th generation dipes with earth mana angel baby bottom balm (cloth friendly and so good).
The 7th generation are free and clear so that might be good for her rash too.

We were dealing with some wicked rash for a while & we 1) started taking a bath nightly. We don't always use soap but it really started to clear once we at least rinsed her hiney daily. 2) we use Aquaphor + baby powder (both of these things kill this all natural mama but we're on a budget & I know it won't kill her! lol) every night. (We just cut strips of fleece to protect her cloth diaper, we get a new strip when the fleece starts to repel.) 3) while the initial rash was healing, we did minimal wiping per ped recommendation (wiping re-opens/agitates the rash) & reapplied cream & powder at every change until it healed.

I have silent pooper & it only smells sometimes so there have been a few mornings when I open her diaper to wonder how long my poor baby had been sleeping in poo. But I know she's protected with the cream. Hope this helps!

a) Toddler uses a BG 4.0. Baby uses a Thirsties Fitted with a cover (Thirsties or Flip)

b) I don't change them overnight and we don't have any issues with leaks.

c) We use CJ's Butter for cloth and Triple Paste for disposables.

We use Bumkin liners!

DS2 has very runny poop, and the most effective cream I've found is calmoseptine lotion (can get on amazon prime). It's probably not good for cloth dipes though...

Three times this week, H has woken up with a wicked diaper rash because she has pooped in the night and a) I didn't hear it and b) I didn't smell it. I've had the sinus infection from hell and it wasn't until yesterday that I was able to smell anything at all.

So, tell me this:
a) What diapers do you use at night? I'm open to cloth and disposable. Right now we use Swaddlers at night and when we have a rash (which is frequently right now) and my insides shudder at the amount of diapers we're sending to the landfill.

b) Is my child the only one who doesn't let you know when she's pooped? Neither of us are middle of the night people. Feedings take 10 minutes max and then she pops off asleep.

c) What's a good diaper cream (cloth friendly and non-cloth friendly). Right now we use Butt Paste.

Bonus: What liners do you use if you use cloth? We are starting solids. Here's this gem of a photo since you made it through. I'm pretty sure she's saying, "What the hell, Dad. WHAT. THE HELL."
