We started with tracing when she was around 2.5 I think - the app was first, then we also traced with our fingers using the baby Einstein mini board books. She's always really been into letters and writing. Aside from just playing with it normally, we sometimes use the pieces to play matching games - like we'll put out a tube of farm animals and match the letters to the first letter of the animals' names. So, my favorite thing to do is actually talk about what words/things begin with that letter.
