If you don't really want to spend the money, just email Otterbox! Tell them about the stretched out rubber, they will ask for some info and a pic and send you a replacement for free! I've done it for all my iPhone cases (for the iPhone 3,4, and 5). They have AWESOME customer service!!

I noticed this thread a week ago, but didn't comment. Last Sunday, my iPhone slipped from jeans pocket while loading the stroller into the car after playtime at the park. The screen shattered beautifully as my husband said.

When we had trouble activating my phone last night, the customer service rep mentioned Otterbox. I just got my Defender. The Commuter seemed wimpy to my needs after how the screen broke. I like it. I'm hoping that my Otterbox holds up and I don't have to replace another phone.

I have to look up mine but it reduces 99% of radiation, which is important because I use it while nursing! I've dropped my phone many many times and it's still in perfect condition.

@coacheswife123: my husband has a lifeproof case and has taken it in the pool with us, and dropped it in a pitcher of beer for kicks. the only thing that sucks is there's a little screw-in piece for the headphone jack, which is easy to lose, and you need another little piece to add to your headphone jack if you want them to fit with the case on.

I had a lifeproof case for my iPhone 4 and I really liked it! I had an Otterbox defender before that, and I hated how bulky it was. The silicone on the back annoyed me too. I liked the lifeproof b/c it was less bulky and smooth on the back, made it easy to take in and out of my pocket.

This is the one I currently have on my iPhone 5:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008U6Q4J2/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really like it. I've dropped my phone a bunch and it has survived.

I have a lifeproof case, and I'm just kind of meh about it. I drop it a LOT (so clumsy with phones!) and it's held up amazingly! It's ugly, but not too bulky. The screen cover was really annoying at first - you could tell there was a gap between the screen and the cover. I eventually got used to it, and it's weird to use a naked phone now. No experience with using it in water (don't trust it!), but it holds up to baby spit well ;)

If you do get a lifeproof, I would suggest the black. I have the purple one and I think it makes the phone look goofy.
Also, reading the amazon reviews made me paranoid that I would get a counterfeit one, so I ordered directly from lifeproof.com

I have a Griffin Survivor, just to add another one to the mix. I like it a lot because there is no delay with the screen cover.

I liked it so much, we also have that kind of cover for our ipad.
