how high are your ceilings? If I were you, I would get something completely flushed to your ceiling. I have a fixture very similar to what you posted but it's above my dining table so it doesn't get abused....

I have similar fixtures in my foyer and in my closet. Neither spot takes as much abuse from the kids as their playroom...but they've definitely thrown things in the foyer that have had close calls with the light fixture and it hasn't broken (yet).

My kids have broken one of the blades on the ceiling fan in the playroom. I never liked having a ceiling fan in there anyway so now I'm glad to have an excuse to replace it with a light-only fixture. However, my husband thinks the one I have in mind will also get damaged/broken. So I'm wondering if the ladies here have any experience with this kind of light fixture, or if you have one in your play areas that you like and think is durable, I'm up for recommendations. Our main requirements are that it is NOT a built-in LED, and that it can take 4-5 bulbs. Thanks!
