I had this a lot. For me, it was from fluctuations in blood pressure. They said it was totally normal but didn't really give me any ways to fix it. Mine stopped early in my 2nd trimester.

Iron pills and more salt (sodium). I believe my lightheadedness was because of blood pressure (you get more blood, increased flow) in pregnancy. My midwife suggested both of those things, and it helped.

Lightheadedness and headaches were some of my strongest symptoms during the first trimester. No advice, really, but I've been there and it stinks because I couldn't take anything to help. It went away by 12 weeks or so for me. Feel better!

@Applesandbananas: I hope it's just a side effect of your antibiotic. I get that way sometimes and I think it's blood pressure. Mine tends to get low when I'm pregnant.

For me it was low blood pressure and the only thing that helped was to close my eyes and breathe slow and sit down

for me it's usually because I'm overheated. I tend to run cold but when pregnant I run HOT.

@brownepiano: they did a standard prenatal panel and didn't report low iron

@MrsKRB: I've been snacking on crackers, so a fair amount of salt

I just checked the side effects of my antibiotic and dizziness and headache are side effects. I'm close to done, I hope that alleviates some of this. If not, I'm going to ask about iron and bp!

It was bad with both of mine-remembering to stand slowly and stand still for a few seconds before I started walking always helped. Not just stand and walk away fast

Sounds like my experience with low blood pressure. I couldn't stand for more than 5 min and when I exerted myself I would almost pass out when I stopped (like walking uphill and hitting a stop light). It improved when my blood volume caught up.

i'd check blood pressure too. mine always dropped when I took a hot shower while pregnant & I had to stop and sit down in the shower several times.

Your blood pressure might be low, maybe eat a little more salt since you're drinking so much water?

@Applesandbananas: It should show up in your blood work, so yes. I was also taking a prenatal but needed iron on top of that.

Is that something your ob could test

The only other thing I can think of is iron pills for low iron. I would have lightheaded times and almost blacked out a few times but it was always food or water related which you seen to be doing OK with. The Dr did eventually add in iron though and I'm pretty sure that's a symptom of low iron.

Is there anything I can do to ease lightheadedness in pregnancy?

I find it's particularly bad when standing/walking. I don't think I'm dehydrated, I've been drinking a lot of water and some lemonade too (such a lifesaver with nausea!) I don't think it's blood sugar, I've been eating small, frequent meals. I'm considering stopping by a pharmacy to test my blood pressure. I remember this being bad with my son and my OB recommended sitting/resting when I felt lightheaded. With a toddler, this is harder!

Any experience?
