I just ordered some Jack & Lily from Zulily. DD has the same problem; she refuse to transition from soft sole mocs to hard sole shoes!

Alice has SKR Mary Janes that have pretty thin/flexible soles. Her Mini Melissa's are very light too (except the rainboots), but are a jelly material. Not sure if you'd like that for winter?

My toddler has these http://m.oldnavy.gap.com/product.html?dn=op602552012&dv=1&shopid=1&pdn=oc37243&outlet=false
And they really are quite light. Definitely more so than real uggs. She loves them and they keep her feet very warm when we are outside.

We bought a pair of Carter's brand shoes because they're super lightweight for DD when she just started walking, to get her used to walking in shoes without weighing her down.

We got them off Amazon, not expensive at all!

eta: this is the exact pair we bought, I don't know about wearing thick ones, but she's definitely worn socks with them.

@mediagirl: Yeah I use to buy shoes for DD only to come home and have her hate them so now I never buy before she tries them on and runs in them!

@Mamaof2: cute! I really don't care at this point. She will only wear her (off-brand) crocs and bird shoes. So, I just want her to wear something she can wear socks with. Maybe I need to take her to a store to get her to try some on.

@mediagirl: not sure if you only want name brand but my DD is also SUPER picky about shoes - drives me crazy! We went to Kohls and Target and then she finally picked these at payless - they weigh next to nothing

http://www.payless.com/girls-frozen-shimmer-mary-jane/75504.html?dwvar_75504_color=silver#start=20

I think I've figured out my daughter's shoe issues. She likes shoes that are super light. Her two favorites are her crocs and her bird shoes (L&L Pios). She refuses to wear much else. She absolutely won't wear sneakers.

Help me find other lightweight shoes. I'd really like to get her a pair she can comfortably wear thicker socks with for winter. I hate sending her to daycare in socks and crocs. With the holes in those shoes, I'm sure her feet get cold, even with thick socks on. She seems to like slip-ons and Mary Janes. She won't wear Toms.
