@dagret: True enough. I never thought of it that way. Such vocal pessimists!

I was letting all the negative comments about kids start to get to me until I realized these were the same people who were going on and on about how marriage was the end of all of my & DH's good times. Some people just suck. Period.

@eeh: YES! Hahahahahah!

@MsLipGloss: I hate "just you wait!" Just you wait until he is a teenager and backtalking. Um? Really? I can't wait till he can roll over--yes I know I'll have to baby proof things more. I can't wait till I can have an intelligent conversation with him. I can't wait until he gets married and has kids. Why do people always tell you about all the crap (Just you wait until you have to change a solid foods diaper) and not about the joy (He finally peed in the toilet on his own because he wanted to "shoot the cheerios" that we put in there).

I am 35 weeks (today - yay!) In the past 2 days I have heard:
"Just you wait . . . "
"You have no idea . . . "
"You're small/ have grown so much/ still carrying high/ look like you've dropped/ look super pregnant today . . . "
"I bet you will go 2 weeks past your due date"

Sooooooo maddening!

I'm laughing because I have heard all these phrases but yet to have one said to me at 31 weeks. I have heard, "wow you are so much bigger than so & so" yes thank you, I apprecaite being compared to the size 0 friend who has the perfect "belly" bump and calls a size 2 jean "her maternity" pants! sigh I have curves (and even more so now that I'm pregnant, nothing I can do about it!)

The comments don't generally bug me because I know people are trying to be polite and make conversation..except for the "you look miserable one". That just makes me feel like crap. It's just the abundance of comments I get now that I'm so far along! My husband was with me at Target the other day and got to experience these comments for the first time. I told him my strategy is typically to avoid eye contact. :)

I want to strangle every person who asks me if I'm sure I'm not having twins. I like the guilt free cookie rule.

I'm 39 weeks and generally feel pretty good overall. I would say the first/early second trimester time was much, much worse. Sure, I feel a little on the huge side and my back hurts if I walk too much but overall, feeling pretty good.

Until I go into public that is...everywhere I go I get "bless your heart", "you poor thing", or my favorite: "you look miserable". I've decided there should be a drinking game type system for pregnant women where anytime we get one of those comments, you get a guilt free cookie. :)
