We have a lillac nursery for our LO (who's a girl) and feel it'd be real tough to have people assct wiht a boy unless you did lillac/grey. Her's is lillac with green and yellow accents and it still looks pretty girly.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Yeah... I don't think I'll win this one!! But as we're not even pregnant yet, I might just do it and if we wind up having a boy - and DH doesn't like it once it's done - we can always throw a coat of paint over the top! I'll post pics if I do it!! :-)

Lilac wouldn't would in be too choices for a baby boy. And like @artbee: I know my husband wouldn't like it and it wouldn't be worth the battle to me.

The Gap did this collection recently where the boys items were lilac/grey, navy and cream. It was super cute, DS has a few pieces.

Personally, I wouldn't. I know DH wouldn't like it and I just can't think of a way/theme/color scheme to make it seem boyish. I know I wouldn't mind it, but DH would and it's just not worth the fight for me. I like to pick my battles and paint colors aren't one of them.

I agree with PP that it depends on the intensity. Like is it more greyish/silver than lilac? If it's obviously lilac I probably wouldn't use it, but if you could decorate with other colors to bring out the silver, then I would consider it.

Maybe if the rest of the room was decorated to bring out the silver tones? Like different greys?

Sounds really pretty!

I love purple (obviously by my user name), but I don't think I'd use it for a boy room. I painted a living room, *too* purple, and I just didn't like it there or think it would work, and ended up repainting it. I think it'd be the same if I had a purple room and ended up with a boy. DH definitely wouldnt like it either,

I guess it depends on how intensely purple-pink it is? After seeing this, I knew I wanted blue-lavender for a boy nursery. In fact, the shade they recommend at the end, BM Instinct (which doesn't look like that at all) was one of the shades we considered for our bedroom!

My DD's nursery is lilac right now! I would probably choose a darker gray for a son.

I think it would be fine. But my DH would probably not want it and would be the same as yours. Also purple in all shades is my favorite so I'm biased.

Okay, so DH and I are still TTC our first baby but we've picked out the room we will be using for the nursery already.

We bought our house 6 months ago and have been working our way around it, decorating. While picking colours for our back bedroom, which is my office, we bought a tin of "grey" paint which was, basically, lilac. It wasn't the right colour for the office but it was so pretty, a really silvery lilac. I love it so much...

So now, on our journey around the first floor, we've naturally come onto decorating the nursery. We've got to strip the wallpaper off and strip the paint off the woodwork, sand it all down, plaster etc so it does make sense to do this now... and I've decided that I'd love to paint it the pretty lilac colour... but we're not even pregnant yet so we don't know the gender of our future baby....!!!

I feel that it's ok to have a lilac nursery for a boy. DH thinks it's a girl's colour.... what do you think??
