I am using the narrow seat legs out for my 6 week old for the last two weeks. She is big though, close to 13 pounds and 23”. I did the frog position a few times but mostly used a ring sling in the early weeks.

Now I have done no research but the ring sling the recommendation was legs out in the frog, taking pressure off hips. When I was working on the fit with my local store someone said how about legs in and the expert said the recommendation is now legs out. Not sure if that is true for more structured carriers too. The guidance on this stuff is always changing and can be personal preference as well as depending on what you read.

My LO was really long - the babywearing person I spoke with recommended moving him to the narrow seat with legs out by six weeks since the froggie position can be less comfortable for longer babies. I did the fetal position initially...

At 6-7 weeks I carried E in the narrow setting legs out. I didn't want to have to worry about a rolled blanket. Before that we used a wrap so I have no experience with babies any younger.

I just started using my Lillebaby with my 7 week old. I'm doing narrow seat facing in (one of the approved newborn carries), as it saves the extra step of the rolled up blanket and DS likes to have his legs free. It's also a lot cooler for both of us since it's so hot out right now.

I used the Lille pretty early on. By eight weeks for sure. Up to three months, Lillebaby recommends the "fetal position," which is the wide seat setting, with baby facing in, legs in "frog-legged" position (so legs in). This is what we did, with a rolled up blanket in the bottom.

ETA: I think you could do legs out in the narrow position, but when F was really small, the rolled up blanket, legs in seemed more comfortable to me.

I didn't get my lillebaby till DD was 5 mo, so I have no practical experience with a newborn, but my suggestion is to head to YouTube! Lillebaby has tons of videos on how to wear it, I bet there will be some solutions they'll have for you.

I've worn two other babies from newborn through toddler aged, but seem to have lost all memory of WTF I'm supposed to do with a newborn. Even though it was only two years ago that I had one.

My slowly disintegrating mind aside, I just got a lillebaby complete and am trying to figure out if I should do legs in or out with a newborn? Legs in requires a rolled blanket, which is fine, but its another step (see aforementioned disintegrating mind). Does it matter from a safety/development perspective, or is it straight up personal preference?

I will probably mostly use the ring sling in the very early weeks, but i like to use a soft structured carrier if I know I"m going to be wearing for longer periods of time. We used a Boba 3G with both previous babies, which was a leg in situation for newborn days.
