@mossyslane: It did. I can't remember exactly when but it was sometime around 6/7/8 months after childbirth. It was definitely the epidural point of entry and it just eventually faded away. Hope your back feels better soon!

@mrs. wagon: I still have an inch wide strip (about 6 inches long) on the top middle of my left thigh that is still numb 1 year pp. I don't think the feeling will ever come back!

@baby98765: I know this post is WAY back, but I'm wondering--did this ever resolve for you? I have a similar pain in my back (seems exactly like you describe) and am wondering if it might be related to my epidural...Many thanks.

@cvbee: I was against epidurals for a few days, but omg. When those labor pains go away and you can sleep.. words cannot express. :)

I had back pain on and off the first few months.. never really thought to blame it on the epidural. :T

This is my biggest fear in childbirth. I'm more scared of an epidural ruining my back than I am about the pain of childbirth, but I'm not entirely convinced that I will say no to the epidural in the moment.

I didn't have anything like that, just the sore back from holding/carrying a newborn. Def go see your doctor.

I've taked to a handful of 'mom' friends that had epidurals and several have said they have the same issue. It's definitely not muscle pain. It only hurts when I arch my back in one small spot and it feels like a bruise and I may be crazy but I feel like there is a small lump there. Some have said it could be scar tissue. I don't know, I should prob see a doctor because it is really painful!

I have a spot that hurts when I lay on my side. When I was getting the epidural I jumped a little and I had a sharp pain down the left side of my spine so they had to redo it. So I think thats what its from... but it can just be added to the back pain I had before pregnancy and childbirth.

The top part of my right leg was completely numb for 2 weeks. It was so scary. I blamed it on the epidural at the time, but now looking back I realize it totally could have been a muscle or nerve issue. During delivery you really strain so many muscles and the adrenaline is pumping so you have no idea what you've done to yourself.

My aunt swears that her back pain started after she had her epidural and I believe her, but then during my Lamaze class the L&D nurse said that's not true. If you have back pain after an epi, it's muscular issues. I dunno...

I did! And then one day it went away. I used to massage it when watching TV and stuff. I would say that around 3.5 months I didn't notice it anymore.

Icy Hot works well as does hot baths.

I have been having back pain ever since I had my baby about 4 months ago. Most of it I know is aches from holding the baby and stress. However, as the rest of my back gets better, I have noticed there is one spot on my spine that is painful when I stretch back or forward. It feels like a bruise. It occurred to me the other day it could be in the exact spot my epidural went in. I wonder if anyone else has ever experienced this?
