Another suggestion.. but I would check out Fortune's 100 best companies to work for - http://fortune.com/best-companies/ - go to the careers section of the companies that look to be a good fit, and do a job search.

I used to also use LinkUp.com to job search. Sounds like it's similar to Indeed in that it aggregates and pulls data directly from company career sections, so you're getting info straight from the source.

I was on FlexJobs for a month or two and wasn't a huge fan and while I want a flexible position I did not find much that appealed to me. I think there are enough free resources that paying for a FlexJobs membership is not really worth it.

I had a membership to Flexjobs for a year (and was quite active trying to use it for about 6 months), and I would not recommend it. The search function was terrible. I feel like the free job boards I used in my field had better search capabilities. Flexjobs does usually have Cyber Monday sales though, so if anyone is considering getting a membership later on in the year that's something to look out for.

Ok - sounds like LinkedIn might be worth a shot, and possibly reaching out to recruiters.

I've been in my current job for 7 years, so it's been a while since I had to look for a new job. I found indeed.com to be very helpful, and that's actually how I found where I work now. The nice thing about Indeed is that the search results link directly to the company's web site to fill out an application, so you can go directly to the source.

LinkedIn for sure! Also, if you're switching industries, recruiters for specific industries can be useful - if you're in/near a big city, there are recruiters specializing in everything from HR/accounting/administrative assistants to very specialized technical positions. What area are thinking about moving into?

Welcome to the boards!!

I've only made 1 job change in the career and that was with a headhunter (that contacted me). I do browse LinkedIn a lot though and I think you may have luck there using your connections/networks.

I used LinkedIn, Indeed and Dice. Also check local classifieds. I had interviews at places I found on craigslist too. But LinkedIn honestly was the most helpful. Even without a wide network, you can set up some useful searches and alerts.

Oh, and glassdoor! I loved being able to see info about culture and benefits right next to the listings.

LinkedIn will be your best bet to network into target companies. Flexjobs seems okay if your background lends itself to telecommute or contract work, but it’s essentially just another job board.

So this is my first post on the boards! I wanted to check out what you lovely ladies think. I'm looking into going back to work full time, or least more hours than I get from teaching. Has anyone had success using LinkedIn or job websites like Flexjobs?
