@Pirouette: @MusicaV: @Foodnerd81: @Kemma: Thanks ladies for your input! Sorry for the slate response. She seems to have gotten better with it thankfully. I think it was a combo of what you ladies suggested... Bad latch, fast letdown, etc. She will still d it sometimes if she is at the end of a feeding and getting tired or lazy about it. Thanks for your reassurance and tips! I appreciate being able to come here for advice!

My LO does this at certain times during a feeding and I have an overactive letdown and fast flow. She seems to have a great latch and is gaining well so I attribute it to her trying to control the flow with her tongue. I think it helps her get all the milk down.

Ir could be a couple things. It could just be a normal phase. I think DS did that for a little while, but it's been about a year. It could be a bad latch, especially if it's painful. I know a few moms whose babies did that and it turned out they had tongue ties. If it persists, I would find an LC to check it out.

If she is having wet and poppy diapers, she is probably getting enough.

C would do that occasionally. I read it's a sign of a bad latch, so I'd try to get her to relatch, but she would keep doing it. She seemed satisfied, was eating enough, so I decided to stop worrying it about. Eventually she stopped on her own.

My LO was a "clicker" when nursing as she was constantly losing suction due to lip / tongue tie and a slightly forceful letdown.

It could be that her latch is slightly "off" so it might be worth a visit with an IBCLC for some fine tuning perhaps?

My almost 4 week old just started making this lip smacking noise while she nurses. Sometimes it hurts and I try to re-latch her but she will start it again after a few sucks. Anyone else's LO do this? Did her latch suddenly go bad? I am just worried she isn't getting enough milk.
