Tongue and lip tie
1) who diagnosed it- his chiropractor (it was missed by two pediatricians and multiple Lactation consultants)
2) how old was baby- about 4 weeks when it was discovered
3) did you get it revised and when- yes. I think he was 6-8 weeks
4) did you notice a significant difference- yes. Huge. I was in severe pain with nursing. It took a few weeks but it became completely painless
5) who did the revision- ent (laser)
6) if you are on a HDHP, how much $$ was it- Not on a HDHP but if I was it would have been like $850

My first had both a tongue and lip tie.

1) who diagnosed it - ENT
2) how old was baby - 5 days
3) did you get it revised and when - had both tongue and lip clipped at 5 days
4) did you notice a significant difference - no. But years later, I heard about cranial sacral therapy and I wonder if that would have helped my little guy. Our issues didn't get better until he was about 3 months old.
5) who did the revision - the ENT
6) if you are on a HDHP, how much $$ was it. - With my DH's insurance at the time we paid everything out of pocket and were reimbursed at 80%, I remember the OOP total was about $250 (in NYC).

I had my girl evaluated for upper lip tie when she was a few weeks old because nursing was so painful to me! She for sure has it.

1) who diagnosed it - ent
2) how old was baby - 4 weeks or so
3) did you get it revised and when - no, we did not get it clipped. The doctor said since she can open her mouth, and she was gaining weight fine, then he did not want to do surgery. He said she would need to be placed under anesthesia and that it’s not good to do on such a young baby if not necessary. He said there *could* be problems later on like speech or gap tooth, but that it is not guaranteed and the lip tie can be cut at a later time. She’s now 20 months. I am pretty positive she has a gap between her two teeth and I rarely see the top teeth. So I will see what the dentist says when we take her when she is 2.

6) if you are on a HDHP, how much $$ was it? I have HMO and I think it would have been covered 100%

@DesertDreams88: I was worried about the same thing with my son- his "lip tie" was SEVERE- he could barely smile wholly, his lip was so attached! He grew out of it and nursed with no problems.
FWIW, we went to an ENT (I don't know why, I thought he would have a tooth gap or something???) and he said lip ties aren't really a thing- he said 70% of babies have them, Actually he said doctors diagnose them so they can get some business from the surgeries (that sounded a little wacky).

We did have my LO evaluated for a lip tie, when we were getting his tongue tie evaluation. He had a tongue tie, but no lip tie:

1) who diagnosed it - pediatric dentist
2) how old was baby - 10 weeks
3) did you get it revised and when - if he had one, they would have done it right then (they did fix his tongue tie then)
4) did you notice a significant difference - N/A. Tongue tie made a HUGE HUGE difference
5) who did the revision - would have been a pediatric dentist
6) if you are on a HDHP, how much $$ was it - evaluation was free. If we'd needed it done, the OOP cost w/o insurance was $499

I think LO2, 11 weeks, might have an upper lip tie. I always have to pull up her upper lip to adjust her latch, and she struggles with the bottle despite having one a day since week 2. Her lip doesn't flange out, it is more straight/narrow, kind of a chomping position.

On the other hand, her latch isn't painful, though I've been BFing for 2.25 years now so maybe my nips are used to it. I *think* she is gaining weight the normal amount, though maybe slowly falling off her curve (haven't weighed her recently.) She started off as 28th percentile and she is still sooo skinny. She feeds every 2.5 hours or so, and I feel like she empties my breasts enough.

Anyway.... questions if your lo had a lip tie...
1) who diagnosed it
2) how old was baby
3) did you get it revised and when
4) did you notice a significant difference
5) who did the revision
6) if you are on a HDHP, how much $$ was it
