We started a free program with our babe, twice a week, 2 hours and it is awesome! They do rotating centers and have some circle time. She was the youngest one in there at 8 months, but she really benefited. That said, I'm tight on budgets so I probably wouldn't have paid for it but I am soooo glad she goes because she gets a lot out of it. Very social and active...not sure if it's because of the classes. I think it might depend on your kid too. If your kid is super mellow or shy, maybe or maybe not.

Hm thank ladies. I might do the free classes anyways to see if it is something for when he is older. It might be fun just once or twice before he can walk just to test the waters.

@anbanan15: IMO after experiencing the class, I def suggest waiting until he is independently walking unless you want to be supporting and bearing much of his weight for 45 mins. It was a Little too much for me. They will have him walking/running in a circle during a short introduction song time. And exercises with the balance beams. I just feel like to get your full moneys worth it makes sense to just wait a little longer. Of course they have a class for even younger children but I just thought that was silly. Didn't think they'd get too much out of that one.

I thought the same about getting her going before she was walking to kind of socialize her or encourage her to walk. But when you put a child who doesnt walk and ones who already have its pretty hard for the non walker to keep up.

I would have jumped at the chance to go with my son before he walked! Just the interaction with other babies and the change of environment might get him going @anbanan15!

@anewme: Oh I'll have to check living social out! That's a great idea!

DS is not walking independently, but he is crawling, climbing, standing, walking with a push walker and cruising around all the furniture...basically everything but independent walking. Do you think in that case he would benefit or should I wait a little longer?

I took my daughter to little gym classes at 10 months old. She actually joined the birds class Which typically consists of babies who are already walking or at least advanced crawlers. She was crawling at the time while all the other kids were walking or just started to walk. It wss such a work out for ME!

In hindsight I def wouldve waited for her to start walking. I can see how those strength building exercises could help but mainly it just seems like fun for them.

I'm taking her to a Gymboree music class instead of a play/activity class next. Got a deal from living social, so we will check that Out.

I liked Gymboree but we're not going to go back until he can walk. There's just so much more for them to do then.

@artbee: They both do actually! I was thinking about doing one at each to see which we liked better, but wanted to get opinions from mama's that used them as well.

@anbanan15: I think Gymboree offers one free class. You could always try it and see if you like it.

@artbee: I was thinking that too. Something for when they were older, but I really wanted to do something DS could get out and about with now. He's 10 months, and crawling/walking/climbing on everything so may be?

I do want to enroll him in swim classes, but I am waiting for the next session to start up. We missed the winter one :/

I'm curious to know too. I've heard it's not worth it until your LO can walk.

Not sure if this is the right place, but anyway...

Has anyone participated in these classes with their LO's? Do you feel like the classes were worth it or your LO got anything out of them at such a young age? Are they expensive?
