You don't see these types of productions anymore and I thought it was a nice change. Well, I watched about 15 minutes and then switched to Glee. I kept noticing how little things were different from the original. The order of the songs, like they didn't play 'My Favorite things' during the bedroom and thunderstorm scene. Then the 'Sixteen going on seventeen' song was played in a field and not in a gazebo. </p> <p>I watched the original a couple of months ago so it's all fairly fresh in my mind. </p> <p>Maybe if it's on hulu or netflix, I'll sit down and watch it from the start. </p> <p>I do like the idea of a live show. They should do more. I would love to see a broadway show that I've never seen before on Live tv. Like Wicked or something. It's just with broadway shows, they always have different cast members so I won't expect someone like Julie Andrews.</p> <p>ETA: I found an explanation for the out of order songs. </p> <p>IT'S NOT THE MOVIE<br /> It's only natural that viewers compare the 2013 TV production to the beloved film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, but this was a different animal. Wisely, the producers resisted any temptation to retain the reordering of songs in the movie. It might have seemed strange to hear "My Favorite Things" sung by Maria and the Mother Abbess early in the show and "The Lonely Goatherd" in the bedroom during the thunderstorm with Maria and the children instead of during a puppet show, but that's how it was in the original Broadway musical. Also, thankfully, songs featuring Max and Elsa that were deleted from the movie were restored, turning the spotlight on Christian Borle and Laura Benanti on "How Can Love Survive?" and "No Way to Stop It." Why does it have to be a competition? Julie Andrews doesn't own the Sound of Music... it's been performed as a live show all over the world. This is just one more adaptation. </p>
