@TurtleDoves: well that wall is the focal point in our living room. We have one other big wall but I'm already putting big framed f smiley pics on it. I could move the nest sign.

If you only want one painting then I'd put the bless our nest on the bottom. Otherwise, I vote for 2.

I think you need to go bigger or add a 3rd item, or find another wall to put it on :)

Groupings of odd numbers are interesting visualy. Since you are keeping the Nest art, I suggest two additional pieces of art.

I voted bigger. I think 2 things in that area plus the sign will just look cluttered. Is this the only place you can put it? Or can you move the sign elsewhere?

@Mrs. Pen: then I change my vote to the 2 side by side. I also like the look of it. But whatever you pick, I'm sure it'll look fab! Looking forward to seeing it when it's done :)

@Crumbs: I plan to leave it as is. I kind love the simplicity of canvas.

@Cole: oooh good call! I'll keep an eye out for the perfect addition

I think it's good enough. It might even be too big if you decide to frame it and add matting.

I think that the 20x16 would work if you were open to putting a third item on the wall-- that whole rule of 3 thing seems to apply here. So maybe move the painting over and have another item there, a clock maybe?

If you go with two, I would vote for a diptych and for it to be two of the 20X16--but no matter what an original painting is such a cherished thing to have!!

Either two or one huge one. I think that looks too small for that wall..

The size you have there is OK, I think, especially since it is over the arm chair. But, I think the two smaller ones would look even better-- it might just be my taste though, because I really the two side by side look. I think exactly the same size as the sign would be too matchy matchy.

One of my dear friends is an artist and I'm going to buy a custom painting from her. I'm trying to figure out the size I want it to be.

Here is a picture of the wall in our living room where I would put the painting. It will hang beneath the Bless Our Nest sign. I originally was thinking BIG - to extend the length of the sign, but that would be 40"+ and those canvases are $60+ alone, not to mention the cost of oil and paying for her time AND shipping... so that might not be a cost effective option.

OR I was thinking have her do two paintings such as 18x18" or 20x20 and evenly space them underneath the sign.

Lastly I could do 20x16, which she would offer that size at a discount. That is the size I taped off in the picture below to get a visual. Does it look too small for that wall? I think it could work but I'm unsure.

What do you think?
