@Bao: Just piping in to commiserate. My DD's teacher tells me she's probably the happiest, perkiest child they've ever met. While she is absolutely lovely a lot of the time, it's clear she saves her, um...difficult...side for me. I don't like to complain, because she really has a good heart and can be so sweet to me, her sister, strangers, etc. when she is in a good mood but if she's not, she's an absolute tornado of emotions. She's almost 4.

DD is 3.5 and she's generally happy BUT her mood changes quickly. One minute she's fine and the next she's on the floor sobbing. This happens often. :crying:

@Bao: I would think sleep might be a factor, but I think 11 hours total is within healthy sleep parameters for that age. My son is a few months shy of 3, but sleeps 11 hours at night plus a 2-3 hour nap. He gets cranky when he has a really stimulating day or skimps on his nap.

@Bao: maybe we have the same kid? I'm hoping it's a phase. M was always the SWEETEST thing and her teachers still tell me she is wonderful. I think she's just testing her boundaries with us, her parents, now. Hugs.

I'm trying to figure out if this is normal 3 year old stuff, or if my kid is just a grumpy child. She tends to be cranky more than she's happy. It is towards me, DH, her sister, and random people if she's in a "mood" while we are out. My youngest is pretty much always happy so that's why I'm wondering if it mostly has to do with age.
