My 3.5 year old has been going through phases where she does this for the past year. Nobody close to her died, she would just hear about it in conversation and started asking questions. She sometimes gets upset asking about when she will die :( we just say we don't know, we are here to keep her safe, usually people live very log lives. Sometimes I just say "I wonder..." and see if she maybe already has another thought she wants to share

Today my 4 year old was crying out of nowhere and said she didn't want her baby sister to die. Chilled me to the bone - I have no idea what provoked it. I talked about how we are all here to protect her and be sure she's with us for a long time - but I felt like it was bad karma to make her a blanket promise that no harm will ever come to the ones she loves.

Further exploration of the topic brought out a story about a monster with keys to our house....no idea how she came up with that.

A lot these days after DH's uncle died a few months ago. She also says she wants us to die at the same time, so so sad.

My oldest randomly asked me last night when I would pass away. He said he never wants me to, and it made me so sad! I know it's inevitable, but I told him hopefully not for a very long time.

Do your LOs ever ask serious questions like those about death?
