I agree with @NovBaby1112! I'd try putting her down 30 minutes later. And if she's playing around in her crib I'd leave her for a minimum of 1 hour. :happy:

I think a later naptime might help too. Mine wake 6:30-7:15 and take their nap from 1/1:30-3:30/4 then bed at 7:45/8. If I put them down earlier, they usually mess around before sleep and/or don't sleep as long.

@NovBaby1112: I will try that too, maybe that's why she was sleeping better when she was going down later a few months ago. Thanks :)

@Bao: my LO is doing this too! She is 19 months. Yesterday and today just chatting to herself. I go up to make sure she doesn't need a diaper but she is fine to give me a hug and kiss. I am choosing to blame it on her stuffy nose since she is a thumb sucker. Hope this is a short phase! Oh and I leave her there for the full two hours.

@Bao: I was going to say the opposite of @CupQuakeWalk. Since she is happily playing in her crib and not going to sleep, that makes me think she might not be tired enough and I would try for a later nap time, like 1:30. my LO is 15 months and can handle 5-5.5 hours of awake time in the morning.

@Bao: I know:( that last hour before bedtime SUCKS for us:( I am thinking it's because of an early nap but every time I try to push his nap to the 4h stretch, there is a meltdown of epic proportions :/

@CupQuakeWalk: Yeah maybe I'll try it. It's just weird because this has been her schedule since about 10 months old when she went down to one nap. Actually, she used to go down around 1:00pm instead of 12:00/12:30. I just don't want her to be too tired later in the evening because she doesn't go to bed until 7:30. I will play around with the times a bit :)

@Bao: E is only 3w younger than A, and he can only handle 3h :/ 3.5h causes a meltdown. So, maybe worth a try?

@CupQuakeWalk: She wakes up around 8:30, so she is up no more than 4 hours before her nap.

@mrswin: agreed.

As long as she's not crying, I'd leave her. She will get her wind down time.
But another thing is, maybe she can't sleep because she's gotten to that point of being overly tired. What time does she wake up?

@Boogs: @mrswin: ok just don't want her to think I'm neglecting her. She is pretty darn happy up there though, so I suppose she is ok!

@Bao: When my nephew started doing this my SIL just left him there for the length of time that he would usually sleep (i.e. 2 hours). As long as she is happy I wouldn't worry about it, maybe she just needs some "chill" time :silly:

Mine does that and I leave him until he tires himself from playing and actually sleeps. If that doesn't happen and he becomes unhappy I take him out.

LO is 17 months old and around 12/12:30 she will ask to take a nap. This is, and has been for a while, her usual nap time. She gets really excited and doesn't make a fuss when I lay her down, but then she doesn't sleep! She will roll around, kick her crib, talk, sing etc. This has been going on all week, and I am hoping it is just a phase because I need to her nap. Has your LO went through a phase like this? How long should I let her stay in bed if she's just playing? I feel bad leaving her up there too long, but I don't want her to think she can play, not nap and then I will come and get her.
