@MsMini: Yes it did help because today it looks like the whole thing could fall off any minute and I can actually see underneath it. Prior to what the pediatrician digging around it, it was attached firmly like it would never come off

Sawyers fell off on day 10, but still has some "sloughing" (blood on onesies etc), I would be a little concerned that it is still attached at 3 weeks, though if it looks healthy thats good. I hope that your Peds manipulation helps it loosen off soon!

Oh no, hope your LO is feeling better now! It took my LO's a while to fall out too, but eventually it did on it's own.

Livs fell off at day 8, but Im thinking maybe your doctor wanted to be sure that it wasnt just kinda "stuck" there with grime or something as opposed to still being attached. It sucks to see your baby in pain though, I feel you there.

Poor baby! :( My LO's belly button fell off sometime between day 10-14.
Not sure how necessary it was for your pediatrician to dig around her belly button.. :P

my baby will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. her belly button stump is still attached. we went to see her pediatrician today and she said the stump seemed very attached, so she used some wooden stick thing to kinda dig around it and lift it up in an attempt to "help" it fall off. My baby was screaming her head off and seemed to be in a lot of pain. She cried for a long while afterwards and now is finally asleep. Did anyone else go through this. I just wonder if it was really necessary
